LT weapon is being converted to Flak Beam, time to decide what all needs to be done so we can get it into the next TB
what i think should be done:
-double damage to actually make it worth-while
-allow Swordfish and OWP to equip it to give it wider usage
-give it similar scripts to the HMG to make it available in the universe
-I'll give it a better looking beam and some new sfx in time for 6c hopefull depending on how far away that is, but the current LT beam can be used as a place holder for testing for now
also it should probably be renamed, any other ideas besides flak beam?
any other balancing considerations that need to be taken into account?
If its going to be twice as strong (which I think is about right) it should also become more expensive.
The Lasertower should also become more expensive and bigger in terms of cargo it requires. The range needs to be increased to someting like 4.5 km.
The problem is with the LTF, we have A and B Flak...and thats already 1 flak too many imo.
Very powerful weapons, nerved intentionally by their short range.
Squeezing this one in will be challenging.

with the 2.0 restart we should take advantage of it to reconsider changing some of the weapon slots to get more variety but for 6c i have a feeling most people wouldnt be too happy if we took away the b-flak from their pythons
It might be best to scuttle this id for now...or at least shelve it until 2.0 is around. Saves time and tbh, the explosions debris is a much better thing to focus on for now since it won't impact balance and will introduce another significant first into X3.

i don't understand the idea of a "flak" beam
the beam itself explode or only it's end? it wouldn't be a mess? i know people wondering even about the flak ppc, i'm not convinced about a beam
Flak is an acronym, by no means it can be considered a synonym to a exploding bullet (although thats ofcourse the old school way of choice for flak).
FS2 featured a long range anti-fighter beam weapon much like the LT in X3...as well as explosive short range Flak.
Imo this is exactly the way Flak should have been setup initially.
Oh and eh Syke, it would be extremely appriciated if you updated the new Tbullets and Tlasers with your brilliant effects;-)
