This is a small guide for those who have problems installing the right language package for XTM 0.75.

Important!
First of all, make sure that every single t-file, namely xx7212, xx7213, xx7214, xx7215, xx7216, xx7217 is stored in the correct place. They have to be in the folder ..../x3reunion/t
Also make sure if you're testing the mod, that your script editor is turned on by using the "thereshallbewings" cheat. Don't use Scorps Map until you have a proper installation. Scorps Map won't produce errors or corrupted saves, but it uses the 447212.xml for unkown/not existing stations (creating the logfile). The creation of the universe is a complex thing ;) This would be misleading.

Step 1:
Make sure that your download is complete. If you're unsure download it a second time by using a different browser, e.g. Firefox.

Step 2:
Make sure you have installed a working version of Cycrows Plugin Manager. http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=218121 is the newest version. Version 2.12 will also work, older versions will give errors.

Step 3:
Start your Plugin Manager and wait until everything is loaded. Press "Install new script" and search for your downloaded language package. It'll be not automatically shown, you have to remember the location where the download was stored. Mark the XTM_0.75_<insertyourlanguagehere> and hit "open". There will be a message that XTM 0.75 was installed and in the main window there should be something like this:

Script Version Author Date Enabled Profile Signed
Xtended Mod XXXXXX 0.75 Xtended Team 17/10/08 V Yes V Yes V Yes

IMPORTANT!
Close the Plugin Manager right now... hit EXIT!.... do not start the game from the Plugin Manager! Close the Plugin Manager before you start X3. Otherwise there can be CTDs (Crash to desktop)

Step 4:
Start a new game. Don't use a saved game! Wait until the welcome message pops up and the game is building up. If this message is already in your language that's a good sign. Fly around a bit and check the station names and BBS messages if everything is in the right language. If the installation went like it was planned it ends right here.

Step 5:
Help, i installed everything, but i see everything in english.
Shut down the game! Don't load saved games! Don't do weird tests! End your game and close X3!
Open your Plugin Manager and wait until he has loaded everything.
Select the line indicating that your language package is installed (the one mentioned above) and hit "Remove Script Files". A Message will pop up that your language package was deinstalled. That's correct. After that, hit "Install new script" again and select again your language package. There will be a message that your language package was installed. That' correct!

Note: When using the default settings of cycrows Plugin Manager he doesn't overwrite the old t-files, because they already exist. You only get the entry in the Plugin Manager. Deinstalling them removes the old/wrong script files. The second installation will put in the right t-files. Vista users may have a look at the end of that post!

Step 6:
Create a new game. Don't use a saved game! Watch out for the welcome message and station/ship names. 99.9% of all users should see them in their language.
If there are still english texts in a NEW! game, created AFTER! the installation of the language package make sure your xx7214 contains text in your language by loading it in your web browser.

Note: In rare cases there can be problems with incomplete downloads or wrong language packages. Vista users may have a look at the end of this post.

Step 7:
Create a new game or start a saved game and enjoy XTM ;) As always... X3:Reunion original savegames won't work with XTM! Xtm requires a new game!

Note: Games created BEFORE! the installation of your language package will always contain english names. This can't be prevented! Only if you destroy the objects in question, they will have the correct names, if they are spawned again by God.
For those who made their savegame docked at a station.... the BBS messages can be in english. Jump to a different sector and dock at a station of your choice. The BBS messages have to be loaded first by jumping in a different sector.
This is also the point where the users can use Scorps Map for the first time. It'll still give english names, but the objects ingame are all named in the correct language. Don't believe in what you're told, believe in that what you can see

For Windows Vista users:
Vista seems to make under certain circumstances a copy (backup) of the installation. If the original installation is altered by using the Plugin Manager, Vista copies the old and english t-files back before starting XTM again. Search your whole computer for the t-files (xx7212.xml to xx7217.xml) and alter the t-files in the backup copy or delete them. However, it is strongly recommended to make a backup first! Because this is a windows issue, you'll do that at your own risk.

Vista users should also install X3 and XTM in a different folder. I recommend to AVOID installing X3 to the folder "program files" as there are some difficulties with the windows virtual store. If you want to install the game in the folder "program files" be sure to edit also all stored files as mentioned above. The installation should also done by using admin rights and if you're asked to overwrite something never choose the option keep both files! Always overwrite directly.

I hope this troubleshooting helps.
