For those wishing to get involved in inputting the data for ship entries, this post is intended to help explain who the current styling works, and how to use the templates involved.

For now, we'd encourage any new users who would like to help to look over the Barracuda entry, and see how it's laid out, and how the 'variants' for it are entered and styled.

For a standard main entry for a ship (also known as a "Vanilla" Entry), the entry should have sections in this order:

A one or two paragraph introduction giving a brief overview of the ship
The template Infobox Ship Stats should then be added in with each option filled in where appropriate (in this template so,e sections of the template will input a default data if there is nothing entered for it), each variant listed on a seperate line (a line break between them, not a paragraph break (i.e. two lines)), and the game versions added by using this • symbol to mark them as available within that game.
The General Information section should then be added, with the first part of it including a direct quote from the game as to the ships description, followed by a small paragraph detailing the variants of that ship.
The Background section should then be added, providing as much information as is known about the origin of the ship (referencing any predecessors in that class, or expanding on anything described in the game description, or found in official sources), perhaps including some small fictional comment relating to it, perhaps sourced from some of the fan fiction available here and at Egosoft (this is placed inside Quote tags).
Known Ships of this Type should include any known ships used, preferably by name, for example the Argon One for the Collosus.
The section Statistical Comparison includes some of the most complex sections within the wiki, and should be based on the template Infobox Ship Previous. Each option has a five similarly named optons, for example: XBTFMaxSpeed (X Beyond the Frontier), XTMaxSpeed (Xtended), X2MaxSpeed (X2 The Threat), X3RMaxSpeed (X3 Reunion) X3TCMaxSpeed (X3 Terran Conflict) relate to the maxspeed of those games. If a variable isn't needed (for example the ship doesn't exist in that game) drop it from the template. To open up each game, you need to make sure the Yes variables have the number 1. So if a ship is in X2 and both X3 games, then add:

| X2Yes = 1
| X3RYes = 1
| X3TCYes = 1
This will ensure those sections are displayed. Then the variable GamesPlusOn should equal the amount of games it appears in plus 1, i.e. 4 in the above example.
The Equipment section is also complex. It should start off with a simple paragraph providing a rough overview of the current ships capabilities (Current Ship equals the latest game version to use this ship), and then the template Weapons Mask with each ship version getting it's own section (each variable has the right prefix to associate it with the correct game, XBTF for X Beyond the Frontier, XT for Xtension, etc), and then each laser position being created by changing the number at the end of the appropriate variable, for example X3TCpos1 has 6 other variables available, X3TCpos2, X3TCpos3, X3TCpos4, X3TCpos5, X3TCpos6, X3TCpos7. Adding these will force new sections to appear in the weapons mask. The laser images and missile images are prefixed images with the prefix of the game, except for the X3TC versions which have no prefix. (I'll create a chart for this later).
The next section is the Gallery which should be created, though most ships don't currently have images available. It should use the template Gallery.
The next section should be called Links and include in a list any links to other sources about this ship, for example, the Argonopedia.
The final part is a list of the appropriate and relevant categories for a ship

We'd suggest anyone who wants to help start with doing the smaller fighters, as they include less complex aspects of some of the templates, and once comfortable, a user could then volunteer to help out on more complex ones.

Feel free to ask any questions in this thread, and we'll answer them as soon as we can.

I believe the XTM ships have now been entered, all of them. Let me know if I missed any.

Now over to polishing all the articles and organizing them. I'll be on Skype the next few days so we can discuss that.

I have gathered screenshots of the XTM ships, put them in 550x550 pixels format and placed them in this .ZIP file (http://www.celestialheavens.com/admin/kalah/files/XTM_ships_screenshots.zip).

Thanks matey. Appreciate the help with this. We've still got a long way to go with a lot of the wiki projects... :)
