Hello all, I just wanted to say what an awsome mod this is, but I figured I'd post what I've learned so far in a single thread, so here it goes:

oh, and here:
I'm using Vista, up to date.
Geforce 8600M GS
at 1024 x 768
Intel core2 Duo @1.5 GHz
with 4Gb of RAM (3 at 32 bit)

Im playing on XTC version 3 and Xtended version 1.1
I have run the fix for the EQ docks not eating upgrades, and fixed the "disable line 40" claiming ship thing... I'll link if needed.

--------------------------------------------------------------

*The game crashes whenever I try to reload the game... It only happens if I try to load a save while I;m already playing, It works fine when I die or load regularly.

*I'd like to know why the game CTD's differently sometimes. As I've posted before, my game tends to crash alot when traveling between sectors, but not as much since I lowered the graphics a lot; But when it crashes that way, I get a "XTC is not responding message", but other times, like in my previous bullet, It kicks me strait to the desktop with now warning, and it's instantaneous... just curious

*I can't buy Police licenses anywhere. The have them, but "products are not bought" no matter how many times I run the .fix script...

*Missiles... for some reason my turrets will inexplicably refuse to shoot any missiles. I fly a pirate kea, and I have PBE's in both turrets set for missiles only. But lately I've been made a fool of my the M8's because I'll fly strait at an M8, I'll get the warning alarms and assume that my turrets will start shooting down the missiles when they get in range (1km)... no... I just explode as I ram headfirst into a missile and die... :( It happens all the time, randomly from any angle. they just do nothing... The commands will still be set, and the weapons armed, but nothing...

*After I connect a weapon complex to a HUB, I can no longer adjust it's wares... Because of this, I now have a shield complex that does nothing XP ...Hopefully you can fix this in the next patch.

*Just a thought, but maybe you could either add a missile, change all missiles, or make a "modification" to all bombers so that their missile wont explode till they're out of harms way? I see all these fearsome bombers get destroyed my a single police M4 that happens to shoot their missile the moment they fire, killing them all... Seriously I watched it once...

*I'm sure I already know the answer, but is there any way to optimize XTC for dual cores? It recommends Multi-core on the box but it will only run on one processor... :?
------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's all I can think of for now, but I'm sure I'll add more over time...

I think it is mentionted in the manual that weapon complexes, when beeing linked to a complex,
are not adjustable anymore and therefore I'd guess it's intended behaviour ;)

Well, as you said that you already know the answer to your last question...
XTC can't be optimized for dual core processors,
it's merely a mod, not a new game with a different engine.

For this Problem you need the Hotfix by Trickmov (klick me (http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=3493664#3493664). With this Fix you're able to install any Software, too. ;)

I know this Problem, but i find out, that my turrets aren't able to fire in the direction where the missile is (at my Paranid M3+ this is the area straight ahead and behind my ship) . Maybe you'll check, in which area your turrets are working in, with entering them with "F1".

Intel core2 Duo @1.5 GHz
this is core of some of your problems. your CPU is too weak to handle XTC. you need 2GHz at least. 3+GHz is recommended

Thanks for all the quick answers!

But like I said, I already ran Trickmov's fix, and it fixed everything regarding the EQ's, but I still cant buy police licenses from the trading stations. I've run the fix multiple times, and it lets me buy all the upgrades I want, except for the Police License.

And as far as the turrets go, I've tried this in frustration many times. My pirate Kia simply wont shoot sometimes... I can spin, bank, roll, ect. while being chased by missiles they wont fire, so upon reloading I switch to them and fire myself, and they never stop, no matter the direction... :( My friend's been reporting this too, he recently upgrade to a heavy centar and to combat missiles (he hates missiles) he put an ion disruptor in each turret... It worked wonders! I watched that thing vaporize any and all missiles, but recently hes been complaining they wont fire, even if he changes weapons and commands... to prove it to me he put a PMC in the left turret, told it to 'attack my target' and went broadside against a pirate marauder. It was alone, and nothing happened....

The one odd thing in this list is the first item - CTD when reloading whilst playing. It's not something I do often (reload while playing), but I don't think I have ever seen a CTD when I have done it.

The other CTD (when moving to a new sector) is one I've seen relatively frequently - I think in my case it's probably a combination of limited RAM (2GB) and a memory leak in my sound system (Linux/Wine), which probably don't apply in this case. The relatively slow CPU may be the cause here, as suggested by Xenon187.

Additionally there is a combat CTD - this happens from time to time, and I haven't yet identified any consistent features likely to cause it.

thankfully I've never had combat CTD, nor Bailing CTD as I've heard so frequently. I just seem to crash when loading stuff :P

The combat one seems to happen to me when i have lot of action going on (Lot's of fighters and turrets firing, and explosions... those things that makes your/my game pause).

About Trickmov's fix, sometimes you have to actually dock at the station for it to take affect, dock at trade station with said ware you wanna buy... police license. Open the script editor and then RUN the script, it should stock it then, if it doesn't run it again.

I can confirm that. With the Teladi police licence at least, while docked at the station.

You could of course via the script editor when you press r on the highlighted script instead of pressing enter on null, choose the station or ship option.
