• Forum Rules (aka The Split Honour Code)

Hello and welcome to The X Universe, pilot.

This is the Split Honor Code which you should follow when flying through our space. Violations of the code will be dealt with appropriately.

The Rules of the Split Honor Code
These are the rules for every user on our board, including moderators and administrators.

    • §1 Absolutely no one is to use abuse of a personal nature against another forum member. If you are offended by another users' post or conduct, try to contact that user directly to peacefully resolve the issue. In most cases a single PM can solve misunderstandings quickly. If you do not succeed, please contact a moderator for assistance.

    • §2 Mild swearing is permitted. Minors do use these boards. Please bear that in mind. Users who swear constantly or make use of more offending obscenities will be taken action against by the The X Universe Team.

    • §3 Images, links or any other content that other forum users may find obscene or offensive, will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to sexism, racism, incitement to violence and extreme religious and political views. Users breaking this rule will be dealt with severely.

    • §4 Any form of commercial advertising will not be tolerated (except for EGOSOFT and us).

    • §5 Any discussion or links to "Warez", illegal software or sites with content that is not in line with the law of the host country AND the posting country will not be tolerated. This is not limited to the X game series.

    • §6 Spam will not be tolerated outside of the Welcome Centre. Please also ensure that when posting a new thread, your topic title is relevant and not just an 'attention grabber' i.e. HELLLPPPP!!!!!. This helps us to provide you a better experience and clarity of the forums. This includes double posts (e.g. two posts in a row), which are only allowed to give an update of the status of something you're working on or for the continuing of a text. If you are not sure, whether you are allowed to make a double post in a specific topic, ask a moderator.

    • §7 Signatures should total no larger than 600 pixels wide and 150 pixels high, including all images and text. This means you can have up to 8 lines of text maximum or an image up to 150 pixels high, but not both. Avatars are limited to 80 x 80 pixels. The total combined size for both signature and avatar should not exceed 50kb.

    • §8 Images you include in your posts should not exceed 640 x 480 and 100kb in size. Thumbnails are encouraged.

    • §9 Discussion of any action taken by the site in relation to a user (i.e. a banning or a warning) is not permitted. This includes discussions about locked topics. If you want to have a clearer explanation about these matters, contact a moderator.

    • §10 We have an extensive FAQ and provide Wikis in english. Additionally we have an excellent search function which allows you to easily find topics and posts related to your questions. 'Bumping' (replying to a thread not discussed since a long time ago) of old or out of date topics is not encouraged.

    • §11 Links to 3rd party websites containing material or content posted by a banned user are not permitted and may be removed at the discretion of a site administrator and moderator. Owners of 3rd party sites should therefore be aware that a user may affect their site and should ensure that reciprocal action is be taken if required or asked.

    • §12 We get new members joining The X Universe every day and they may not have played any of the mods that are currently hosted here to any great degree. With this in mind, if you are posting information that may give away plot lines or specific information that would spoil the enjoyment of a new player finding out for themselves, them please use the spoiler tag system to help hide this information.

    • §13 Do not post other's phone numbers, addresses, pictures or any personal information etc. without their permission. It is strongly recommended that such information is not displayed at all in a public setting.

How to gain prestige before the patriarch
These recommendations are not a must but it is encouraged to follow them.

    • If you find a solution to a problem you have been having, either in a thread you started or in another thread you came across, click on the rep icon of the poster that helped you. (It is the icon that looks like a star below each post. »» «« ) In this way everyone can slowly over time see who has helped the community the most. A extensive guide on how it works and how to use it is available here.

    • If you find one post in particular very helpful, press the -button . This will help singling out informative posts and with that help users to find answers to their questions quickly.

    • Remember to assign tags to your threads. This will help influencing the efficiency of the search function positively and ease the search for relevant answers to one's questions.

    • Please remember that every picture you upload in the albums of the social groups puts strain on the server and uses bandwidth, which in turn won't be available for the rest of the site. You are allowed to upload pictures but you should do so in a reasonable amount (~two to three pictures per person, more if you upload small pictures). It is encouraged to use image-upload-sites like photobucket or imageshack instead.

While the administrators and moderators of this website will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.

You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned. You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit.
The The X Universe Team reserves the right to ban a user at any time, without notice, from any or all areas of the The X Universe website especially for spamming, flooding, or otherwise abusing the public communication tools.
