Würselen/Planegg, Germany – In a further step to enhance and broaden the enjoyment of its X games titles, Germany-based software developer, EGOSOFT, and publisher Deep Silver today announced the forthcoming release of the X Superbox.

This compendium represents the full spectrum of EGOSOFT’s endeavours over the course of its PC games development history, stretching right back to the first X-series game, X- Beyond the Frontier, chronicling the adventures of Kyle Brennan in the X Universe and bringing that Universe’s story right up to date with the very latest version of X3: Terran Conflict, for which a new set of missions, entitled ‘Balance of Power’ has been specially developed.

The X Superbox contains the most up-to-date version of all of the X-series games, which have been updated to ensure compatibility with Microsoft Windows XP (SP2), Windows Vista (SP1) and Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit). All of these titles are also provided without DRM. A comprehensive contents and features list can be found below.

In addition to all of the X-series titles, the X Superbox also contains an all-new and exclusive X Encyclopedia, written by Helge Kautz, the author of Farnham’s Legend and other X Universe books. This 300-page encyclopedia, which covers historic events and personalities in the X Universe, amongst many other items of interest, represents the ultimate reference for all avid fans of the X-series of games.

EGOSOFT and Deep Silver are particularly proud to announce that the X Superbox will contain a bonus DVD that is bursting at the seams with additional content, most of which has been created and developed by players and fans of the X games, as well some other previously-unreleased exclusive bonus content added by EGOSOFT.

With a recent update to the vBulletin software, we've taken the time to implement the upgrade, as well as a few other minor updates, which resolve some known bugs, as well as adding several new features.

It is now possible to link your Facebook account to TXU, allowing you to 'Like' or even publish an article, post or thread to your Facebook Wall. This integration is currently on trial here, as the earlier version vBulletin had caused severe page load delay. It does seem to far that there is no significant increase in load times, and if that plays out, we'll be leaving the feature integrated. Future updates of vBulletin are likely to include more Facebook features.

Using Facebook will help expose TXU, and by extension, the X series to a sider audience. So please get involved in promoting the site.

The wiki also underwent a Gold release update, and one or two newer features are included, as well as a fixed article subscription. We are working atm to ensure that there is a German translation of the core files to the VaultWiki install. If you would like to get involved in the wiki, in article editing or translating, please contact myself or D!S7RUG@7OR for more information.

After some consultation, it was decided to remove the newer thanks/like system as there was no significant benefit over the older system, and it lacked several features that would give it the edge.

We are hoping to do one or two more slight updates over the coming days, so stay with us while we work through them.

As many will have noticed, there have been many changes to TXU's software over the past few weeks, most important of which has been the reactivation of the Projects allowing us to track the software we use, and the mod and other features of the site that require project tracking.

The project section can be accessed by clicking on the Project tab on the navigation bar. This will take you to a screen with access to projects you have permissions to. Most notably will be the TXU Website Maintenance Project which you can access directly from this link. Please post any bug reports, or even requests, there and we can ensure they are maintained and tracked to completion.

Other new features include the Surveys now available at TXU, accessible through the Surveys tab on the navigation bar. At the moment, we have an initial survey that we are encouraging all members to fill in. At this time 88 members have filled the survey in, and we'll be posting some of the interesting results of that survey some time soon, as well as creating other surveys for our users to fill in. The surveys allow us to assess the direction of not only the site, but even some of the mods, as the results are of interest to mod and script developers in many cases.

Other new features include the ShoutBox which has the capability of directly messaging a user, and of creating unique chat rooms for users to access. We've also added a Status bar that users can edit in their profiel or in the threads to show what they are currently doing, something similar to what Facebook currently has. Within a user's profile you can see their past statuses.

Also, we are trialing a new Thanks/Like mod which allows users to thank the poster for their thread, and allow them to state whether they Like the post. As of the present, both this mod and the older thanks mod are accesible, and depending on the general consensus of TXU's users, we'll deactive the less popular mod in a week or two.

After some extensive testing, TXU now has more support for mobile phone users.

Much of the time, loading a website on a mobile phone becomes time consuming, and never quite looks right. After some consideration and behind the scenes testing, we've implemented two systems (allowing for the widest coverage) that allow active forum access at a fraction of the time it takes when viewing a regular webpage.

The two systems we have implemented are Tapatalk and ForumRunner. Details of what they can do and how to access them are found below within this article. At the moment this access is forum only, though I would expect to see that change in time. Both systems have a free to try on the iPhone, with Tapatalk also having Android and a beta Blackberry setup available. The free to try allows for forum browsing, but does not allow for posting access.

We are making these available not to force users to use them, but to allow them the choice should they wish to access TXU in this method. We will endeavour to keep on top of any updates to the core software, allowing for any and all new features as they are published.
