Making friends with a shy fraternity of outcasts...

Rate this Entry
Well, normally I'm a trader. I like to be everyone's friend, cause that's when profit comes. Well, maybe not in league with Xenon or Khaak but they aren't bad either. Eliminating competition is also a part of the business (as long as they leave me alone) but psst, don't let anyone know! I'll deny I've ever said anything like this anyhow...
As I said, I'm a trader at heart but even the peaceful me recognizes the value of some very targeted pir... aaaa liberating acts. Especially since you want above all that shiny Poseidon...So, sometimes it's useful to be everyone's friend and especially the friend of a certain freedom fighters faction also called the Yaki! So here it is, one of my most closely kept secrets: how to make them friends!
You see, they are quite shy, the Yaki. Hard to befriend if you don't know what you're doing...So here are my rules of engagement:

1. Never ever engage in piracy against them. You see, the thieves hate to be stolen and in the same way the pir... sorry liberators hate to be liberated....Of course if you can plausibly deny, go ahead. Be aware, they have good spies and if you take over their ships they'll know and mark you as enemy.
2. Place one or two Advanced Satellite in Tortuga (37 km above the shipyard and on both sides of the sector) and keep an eye on their whereabouts.
3. Keep an eye for a Yaki fighter giving missions but be aware that you might make a foe (unless you have high race standing) in the process of making a friend...Of course if you piss them off (liberating their ships in in the process getting a despicable reputation with them) the little cute fighter, floating around in the space, might decide not to give you any mission. I don't know this for sure, since, as I said, I like to be their friend...
4. If if worse comes to worst, that Adv. Sat. in Tortuga I told you to place might let you know when their (and everyone's) good friends the Xenon come to visit. Be sure to talk first with them, but bring a fast and well armed ship. They are queasy and have slippery AIs who above all love the fireworks...And stay AWAY from the Yaki, do not return fire! Rinse and repeat until the people of Tortuga love you again...

Being their buddy also brings advantages. Suddenly you satellites (which you placed all over the universe) don't go puff soo fast and they stop chasing your ships. Suddenly the universe becomes safer for you. And you now have a safe base should you decide to become a great liberator and go against the system! You can try to become the greatest privateer the universe has seen!

That's all, have fun and good luck!
