A Terran Adventure (Part 13) - Corporate Espionage

Recently in Aldrin 2 a Pirate Base had been established, which gave me a thought on gaining access to the Duke's Bucaneers' HQ.

As a temporary measure I would link the home sector of the Duke's Bucaneers to the Hub (using the set of gates currently linked to Montalaar) and then ask a Hacker at the Pirate Station in Aldrin 2 to hack the HQ and gain me station clearance.

After linking the gate set to the Duke's Bucaneers' sector, I gave myself the 1 hour and 55 minutes that the gate circuitry takes to cool down to hack my station clearance. Fortunatly for me, the first time I docked at the Pirate Station a local hacker was only too pleased to take my money to hack my clearance (must be either naive or suicidle as I gather the Duke's Bucaneers are not a particularly nice bunch of Paranid... even by Split standards). Setting the turrets of Spirit Eater (my personal Springblossom and captains' yacht) to a defensive stance, I head to the Duke's Bucanneers' HQ.

Upon entering the Bucanneers' sector, the first thing I noticed was that all the ships were still gunning for me (not surprising since I had blown up their HQ at least twice already). Luckily for me, Spirit Eater is fast enough to not have to worry about the local patrols. Upon reaching their HQ, I check my docking clearance and note that it was green so I engage the docking computer so as to avoid any unpleasant incidents with the local patrols.

Upon docking, I check my ATF standard issue EMP side arm and head to the docking port. Upon entering the station, I warely check for potential hostiles. Luckily for me, no one was taking even the slightest interest in me... among the station residents were people from many other races, and all of them were armed. Hustling along to the station's equipment sales office, a rather friendly Paranid (even by Boron standards) greeted me at the door and showed me around his wares that were on display. He took particular pride in showing off the Software Signature Scrambler which allowed you to carry the System Overide Software without having to worry about the local Police scanning you.

After some rather faked deliberation (for the benefit of the Paranid Salesman), I decided to order 10 of the Software Signature Scramblers and 9 of the System Overide Software (my Teladi Kestrel "Spirit Fly" already had the System Override Software).

A number of uneventful trips later (between my ships parked in Space near Spirit Nexus and the Bucaneer's HQ), I had equipped Spirit Sanctuary (my personal Goner Aran which I had retrieved from deep space and fully upgraded), Spirit Fly, Spirit Eater, and all my personal personal M7s with both of the system upgrades.

Returning to the HQ with some time to spare before I can realign the gates back to Montalaar, I decide to look for work either constructing stations or ferrying people around.

Five factory missions (three of which I paid to have my clearance hacked), and a couple of taxi missions later it was time to re-align the gates back to the friendlier system of Montalaar.
