Hi there!
With this being my first blog i wanted to make it something useful. I got the impression that most of the users around here are very advanced in using the WWW and know about it's potential odds.
But not all of us are aware of the dangers that come in hand with surfing the net. In addition to Galders very fine Blog i just want to provide you a short list of free software that should make your journey through the internet less dangerous.
Please keep in mind that even with installing the recommended tools you will not be 100% safe. Therefore here are some general hints you should never forget:
1. Never ever download any software from the net if you are not absolutly sure about the provider.
2. Don't download anything that is offered for free but is normaly sold. There is always a price to pay...
3. Don't share personal information in the WWW. Keep your privacy.
4. Don't surf the web without installing antivirus software and a firewall at least.
5. Keep away from suspicous sites. Use your brain!
6. Keep away from Microsoft InternetExplorer and Outlook. Use FireFox (for example) and Remote Email Services (like gmx) instead.
7. Never open an email from an unknown sender. Just delete it.
8. Read Galders Blog
To help you find a good but free tool i made this list. All these tools are limited to personel use only. I suggest to accept this term because we all benefit from the help the provider give for free. The list is made in an alphabetic order not in valency. To enter the download site just click on the language shortcuts behinde the software names.
If anyone can make more suggestions please comment!
