Hello all,

Here's an update of the model I'm working on.

The infamous Cylon Communications Relay!

Click the thumbnail for the full 1600x1200 image.

At 24,000 TRIs it would serve as an LOD at this point. Next iteration will add alot of mechanical and decorative detail.

Textures are placeholders only, as is the colour scheme.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Nice work!! Lightmaps in X3 use the alpha channel to affect the level of 'glow'. Once it's in game, it might take a bit of tweaking to get the level of glow you want.

Here's a little update.

Did some optimizing as well, so the poly count is less than the previous pic.

Currently standing at 20,000 triangles

And of course the obligatory occlusion render so you can see the geometry:

Both images are 1600x1200 so you may need to zoom in with the browser.

Gonna bring it up to 30,000 polys and then start texturing.

I think it would look even better when you change the color of the blue parts too red !

The it would really fit to the Cylon style ...

As I mentioned before, the colour scheme is a placeholder. I'm open for suggestions as to look and feel. Once I'm done the textures I'll be able to better judge the final look.

I agree that red seems to be a Cylon colour. But if you recall, inside the base ship, alot of rooms were lit with bright blue lighting as you see here.
However, the people ask to see red, I show red. :)

The comm relay imagined by Zoic had no lights at all! But I thought that looked too drab, Cylons are more stylish than that.

Haha yeah they are, just have to look at No. 6!! I quite like the blue, the red seems very aggressive for just a comm relay.

Here's an update of the texturing progress. Making it look a little more Cylon-esque.

Will be splitting my time between this and a Cylon Heavy Raider from here on.

This model stands at ~20,000 triangles currently.

That really does look good - I have to say I do like the blue lighting - gives the cylon's a more 'cold' heartless feel.

I'm sure we'l have room to use the 'red' on something else....;)

Looking good there OnYxO0

I have to say I like the red one better so we'll have to find some where to put it;)

Was a little bored so I gave it the "Zoic" treatment. That's right, it's:

blurry (cause it just finished a snazzy zoom/refocus)
desaturated (then re-saturated with a colour filter)
over-exposed
'shot' with a widened aperture
lens-flared
film grained

Now all I need is a TV network logo on the bottom right.
