You don´t have to move anything when you use the new 0.7.5 Full-Version, not the Patch one.

XTM 0.7.5 Full version installation instructions

Warning: XTM is not Vanilla save game compatible. You MUST start a new game once you have installed XTM

1. Install X3:Reunion

2. Patch X3 to the latest version >>Link to Egosoft Patches download page<<<

3. (Optional) Install the latest X3 bonus pack >>>Link to ES Bonus Pack download page<<<

4. Click the 'XTM 0.7.5 Full.exe' installer

5. Install to your 'X3 Reunion' folder. (Default path will be something like this (Can be slightly different depending on which country you bought the game in) C:\Program Files\DeepSilver\X3 Reunion). It is the same folder that X3.exe is in.

6. Install any other compatible mods and/or scripts.

7. Enjoy!

To help you, you need to help us. You haven't filled out any info in your profile so we have no idea of your computers specs or even what operating system you are using.

I am assuming you are not using Windows 98 SE, this error is usually associated with Vista 64-bit. Is this correct?

aye, correct.

Major edit:

I found out i do not have the most recent version of the game, i have V. 2.03 or something and i wanted to install v. 2.5 having trouble with THAT as well (*sigh* Typical). It tells me:

An error occurred while trying to create a file in the destination directory:
Access is denied.

Looks like the X3:R folder is read-only. Maybe check the folders properties?

Nope, it's not that.

Hey, Ive recently downloaded the mod (7.5) and when I am installing in it asks me to replace some files from the X3 directory. Do I replace these?

That is Vistas fault, and it is also probably the same problem you are having with installing XTM.

You have the game installed to Vistas version of program files (Just called programs iirc), vista hates files in that directory being changed and will prevent it if it can. It's one of Vistas security features that is actually more of a pain the the neck than it is useful.

You need to install X3R to a custom directory. Most people install games to c:\games or something similar to stop vista from blocking changes to the game. Once X3 is installed to a custom directory/folder, you should be able to upgrade it to 2.5 and install XTM without a problem.

Hiya Peeps,

@ Loger......
Hiya Mate,
As far as Vista's concerned.... not bloody likely......:lol:

Yes, yes, I know that wasn't exactly what you were asking, but it does however answer the question... ;)

Let me put it this way... Vista works completely differently compared to XP... M$ went an entirely different way when they made Vista (piece of !@#$% that it is... I also use Vista... ;)) so that it does thing differently compared to XP, take saving pictures for example, in Vista their stored under C:/YourUserName/pictures, where as in XP they were saved under C:/YourUserName/My Documents/Pictures (iirc, that is.. :p) but when it comes to things like your savegames it's in a completely different location under Vista compared to XP, with Vista it's under C:/YourUserName/Documents/EGOSOFT whereas under XP it was simply saved to your computer as egosoft....

Cheers & Thranx

You can disable vista's UAC though I do not advise it if you aren't aware of the consequences. Also a real good idea to run the exe as admin, right click on it and choose "Run as administrator", otherwise I am pretty sure it will NOT install many (if any) of the files for XTM. Furthermore, I do not believe it is possible to install X-3 to a different folder (trial and error, but I am not experienced in this area), I am not sure if this is a vista issue or the X-3 installer. The installer only gives you the option to create a new folder within the Program Files folder, nothing more. If there is no other option I'd highly suggest making sure you run everything as administrator.

I was having a lot of trouble installing XTM on my Vista machine, and I still have issues, but I tire of dealing with it. I have installed this thing many, many times now and I still have the same issues every time (even clean install with nothing but XTM). My cursor looks like a UI icon map, and game does not load. However, this is not my thread and I have experienced XTM on a different machine in the past, I just wanted an inspirational boost on my next short movie :)
