Short movie of Pegasus on halve speed.

Featuring:

-Good refs for Pegasus Flak Barrage field
-Main bow battery bullet+smoke+exhaust effects
-Cylon Basestar Nuke impact+trail
-Engine effects
-Texture colors+lightmap

http://dev.thexuniverse.com/TEMP/pegasus_0001.wmv

Although still not conclusive, the part of Peg firing her main guns is suggesting a real MAIN/Ultra hvy gun-type besides the front/bow mounted Railrun turrets (both fire in sequence shortly after eachother).

Mox,

I thing you are right. I have a very detailed model image that clearly shows 4 port on the front of Pegasus. These are probably the "forward Batteries" that were being fired.

Does that clearly show 4 ports? Do I need to turn up gamma or something?

The picture is realy sweet though!

Let me throw in this one:
http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/attachments/3d-wips/373d1147815251-battlestar-pegasus-peg-051606-front.jpg

I'd say the 8 circular ports below the Railguns are the main battery..

Judging the size of those things their calibre would come at approx 4 times that of a Railgun...give or take a few Indian Elephants. So that 32+at least 10(20) Railturret barrels able to fire forwards....no wonder Peg can take down a Basestar if she's permitted time to allign for this fireing sollution.

More peg ref mats:

http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/attachments/3d-wips/18538d1161578992-battlestar-pegasus-pegasuspodretractmod.jpg
This is an excellent shot for both texture colors and the lightmap.

This shows Pegs PD gun bullet sizes compared to the shipsize.
These will probably have to be upped a little otherwise you won't see them at all ingame.

Amazing stuff Edath,

-Shows I have Galactica's engines currently setup wrong (I have the mid engines also lighted
-Even shows the left hangarpod having a flightball system, LOL! I never knew she had one :)
-Finally some good Basestar closeups.
- The reference pics for the stations are more then enough to do a good job on.

Great work, thanks!

Galactica also uses all 6 in the series.
I'd leave all 6 lit up, looks cooler.

Those four sets of two round holes on the front of the Pegasus are torpedo launchers not gun turrets btw guys.

BTW that Basestar is a complete bitch for docking setups as when I put docking in the central hub of it everything would just fly around in circles for ages and not dock so I ended up putting the docking on the end of one of its rear spikes. Gonna play about some more with it later but Im not going to hold my breath on it. However if anyone has a schematic of this thing showing gun placements I would appreciate it so I can get mine a little more realistic.

I think most of the displays could easily be done in photoshop. Are animations "triggerd" by the pilot when activating things (switching weapons for example), or are they just eye-candy?

Stevio
22-11-2006, 12:20 PM
Animation is easy in PS
its just making the frames that are the hard part

I'd imagine its all eyecandy except the Speed shield and hull

Mox
22-11-2006, 12:30 PM
Thats right, just eyecandy...but nice nonetheless.
So, how easy is it to animate from a single reference pic?
Stevio > make me a rotating Draidis and we will see :P

Stevio
22-11-2006, 12:35 PM
thats what i mean animating it is easy, making the frames for it is a bit trickier

i'll see what i can do tho, i'm not promising anything magical tho

Stevio
22-11-2006, 12:40 PM
Is it possible to link a Cockpit animation to something during the game like an incoming missile?

Mox
22-11-2006, 12:42 PM
Err, what did you mean by animating then?
I dont need a animated gif or someting, I need a series of pictures, with eachtime a small difference so I can set them up in a X3 animation sequence...hence I thought it 'funny' commenting on it was refered to as 'easy' cause I think it's more of a pain then you know to do it properly.

Linking anims, not sure..possibly so yes...I'd have to dig into Animation calls to see how the current ones are setup.
Did X2 have someting similar?

Stevio
22-11-2006, 12:44 PM
it might do can't remember

what img format do you need them in? dds?

Mox
22-11-2006, 12:49 PM
DDS preferably yes but anything else is also ok, I can take it from there

Not sure tho :?

Could be in your local profile:

C:\Documents and Settings\mox\Local Settings
or
C:\Documents and Settings\mox\Application Data
or
C:\Documents and Settings\mox\UserData

I'd search in that order

Thats perfect Stevio, looks very nice..as long as you keep the frame in the dimensions the original Dradis pic is in so we can snug-fit it back in later on.
Also helpfull would be to pre-enhance the white and make the blue-background more neon/turquoise blue.
5 or 6 frames should do I think.

Dont forget to stick the Vipers and Raider back :)

What do you think of the background... Too Much?

Mox
23-11-2006, 01:26 PM
A Little too much...I'd go for less flare in the centre and a little more mediterranian blue on the display ;-)

Better?

Mox
23-11-2006, 02:13 PM
Yes, and now with a lot more contrast (so probably darken the background and lighten the white -but not that much for the white) and, if possible, the draidis raster-frame on it too. Mind you, because this is going to be the background lightmap, we will also need a frontmap which doesnt have the rotating part of the draidis on it...and without enough contrast the whole thing will just light up with nothing else to show for.

Good work!

If you look for an example 'blue' on the normal frontmap, just take the pics from the wiki for reference ;-)

Mox
24-11-2006, 03:39 PM
Yeah cool Stevio! getting better and better:)
Indeed the white might be better of with a touch more light-blue in it, so to emphasise later on the glow it will get when it's lighted up.

This is probably useless info, but in the dialogue the tactical officer says that the 2200's have a firing solutions. So, just to extrapolate on that a little, 2200mm is 2.2 meters. So, VERY big shells.
