Colonial Viper MKII + Cylon Raider:
Meshes and textures by Coxxon, Ive added specular/bump/lightmaps only. Both ships have custom animated engine thrusters and the Viper has a new cockpit+pilot (I figured to make it look nice since you're gonna spent a lot of time in this bird).

Thats the same MK2 Viper I have but I cant get that damned badge on the port and starboard sides to show up and have a couple of the other decals to fix up. Mine was converted from LW with nearly 100 parts. Beautiful Viper but heavy loading. I would love to know how you managed to keep the clear cockpit on that so you can see the dash etc which I have to say looks awesome. I tried and failed. I made the cockpit from scratch.
Basically I cut the cockpitpart from the Coxxon mesh, cut-sliced it so it had enough poly's along the frame to divide them into new textures, then I mapped transparant materials on the windows.
Then I flipped the normals so both inside and outside would show.
I then inverted the entire cockpit to form a basic "baththub" from which I extruded and bevelled the actuall cockpit body.
The textures are all custom made.
Approx 8 hours work in total but it's worth it cause without a transparant cockpit it just isnt the same imo.
The Pilot is the ES Astronaut, cut and spliced so it sits down ;-)
I will animate the pilothead in the final version so it looks around some :lol:

is the "Reaper" call sign on the side of the Viper a referance to Xtended or did it just come w/ the texture (or is it somewhere in the second half of S2 or in S3? in which case i dont want to know)

This is the one I was converting Mox. It looks like Coxxon might have succeeded where I failed. You should d/l this and check out the cockpit in it as its pretty awesome also. The modeler was Sean Kennedy.

I know of SK's Viper but it's way too high poly's to my taste.
Coxxons Viper is at a mere 4000 poly's and thats including the cockpit+pilot I put in it, allowing for much more Vipers to be rendered in combat at the expense of little to no quality loss (you gotta love that guy!).
Edit: Perhaps SK's cockpit might come in handy to model a real cockpit?
Meaning one you can actually sit in whilst in flight...hmmm, has always been on the backburner in my agenda but making a new cockpit sounds like fun.
OP updated with 2 screens of the new Cylon Basestar.
Hmm, somehow the Basestar seems to make my X3 crash.
At first I thought it was the textureload of the model which is quite heavy but after reducing, and more reducing of quality, it still crashes.
I need someone able to merge the mesh and textures into his own mod to confirm this cause it could just be my rig causing the issue.
Any help appriciated.

Mox check your email! Think I found the problem.
Superb! Looks like that did the trick indeed.
Only problem is some textures need an alpha-channel to work properly
and you left those out so now I have a nice entirely glowing Basestar lol!
But I'll know what to do next time up :)

I just spent 20 mins ingame with the converted textures no problems with two basestars. Also tried it with the textures resized to 1024 x 512 and no problems.
I have just tried it with your DDS files had three Basestars spawned in Argon Prime and Seta going no problems. Mind you I am running on an Athlon 64 3200 with an GE Cube X1300 512mb Card in it and 1 gig Ram.
God that thing is Shiny!!!!!!!
I think with that bump map at 5mbs it might be pushing it and a few people will have problems so id resize all the DDS to 1024 x 512 which is the size of the Bump maps Egosoft used. It will also cut down the size but the quality still looks good.
hehehe pumped out a couple of Vipers today also for download.
I currently have it at 1024x1024 and it runs fine too.
I think the issue might be in someting else, probably my graphics driver not knowing how to deal with high texureheaps on high shaders.
Trust me, my pc can handle ANYTHING ...its brand new...even with 120 raiders, 6 Basestars and Galactica (thats a total of a million polygons) I have 80fps.
Its still a good thing this happened though cause without it I'd stay put at highest resolution..now I know a little resizing wont hurt quality but saves a bunch in textureload, which will be a bless for lower end rigs.
OP Updated with 4 Screenshots of the new Viper MKII Cockpit.
Note the light reflections on the cockpit glass.
Also provides a glimps on the final versions of Galactica's animated thrusters.
(Due to X3 cockpit controls, -indicators and such-, the cockpit isnt truely authentic but imo it comes close enough and adds tremendously to the feeling of realy being in a fighter since it makes situational awareness just a tad more difficult to master).

I like that cockpit!! Are the display-textures animated?
Would be cool to get it fully functional. I mean integrate the 3d radar in the center display, speed dial above it and the target cam left top display?
Probably not I guess, seems like the hud is on a seperate layer...
The following textures are animated:
-Missile nr
-Hullbar
-Shieldbar
-Speedbar
-Laser(energy)bar
There are a few other textures which change when you loose hull or dammage systems.
The rest/most is static.
I'm looking for some good cockpit (SF) textures so I can create new ones...not sure how to animate things like a Draidus though cause that would probably require some level of advanced texture manipulation.
Would be nice :)

Any textures will do, preferably animated ones (multiple frames are ok, I can animate them from there, just as long as I dont have to make the frames myself cause I wouldnt know how).
The Higher the Res. the better.
For all I care we rip them from FreespaceII or someting, can't recall how they looked precisely but should be ok.
Also, sounds plz!
I already have the Vipers gunsound but the rest is still a void.
@Stevio > the camera from the cockpit scene is overwritten by the Tships-scene cockpit cam...which isnt that cool tbh cause it creates clipping when you switch the hud off....the only way to workaround this is to create a cockpit-body inside the mesh with components.txt reference, which is what Egosoft does but I'm lazy so I'll keep to this method (for now).

Here ya go Mox. I ripped these right off of the DVD from Season 2 from the Scar Episode. I dont know if there were any better episodes to rip screenies from but these are pretty great Cockpit shots and you can see all of the Avionics clearly.

The situation has not changed at the moment until 0.7 is released. I'm sure any work on the BSG - mod will be announced when its appropriate.
But do carry on making movies... Hawkbs' Valkyrie beta and a Raptor would be nice to see in action!

Sorry to bring this page up again, but i must say that that is...poetic. Is that flak in the pics what it will look like in the game? If so THAT IS FRAKKING AWESOME!!!!! Will it stop missiles and destroy fighters?
