Yeah - There's an interesting debate on the BTRL forums - since they are nearly ready to release a demo some fear they could be shutdown in order to maximise profits for the official version...

In my opinion if you are into BSG you'l probably buy the official game anyway whether you have a mod version or not! -

Well , it really depends on the quality of the game. I for one can't wait for BtRL , but... we must wait and see how that "official" game will be. That if it won't get canceled as the Sierra's Babylon 5 game.

Welcome Raghost! :) Details of the mod are under wraps at the moment - but you should be able to command BSG ships when the mod is done. There are several topics available in the forum discussion if you wish to contribute ideas - have a read first to see the communities' ideas...

The official PC game will be more of shoot-em type, though I hope the XTM -BSG mod will include some economic elements (replenish the fleet with resouces e.t.c.)

It's wait and see for now.....

Its still very much still up in the air in my own mind on what the best way to go about it is, either a linear mission based campaign jumping from one sector to the other or making it a more free-form, non-linear style.

Just thought - Raghost - if you wan't Bsg ships (to amuse yourself in the offical X3 universe try Hawkbs.. here are some links I've placed in his thread in order to 'wet' your appetite.
Hawkbs BSG ship thread (http://www.thexuniverse.com/viewtopic.php?p=22436#22436)

@Syk, Linear v freeform debate would be interesting. What I'd like is a game which is open ended after the missions (locating Earth?) is completed - so you could decide to return the Colonies and conquer them back or try to find the Cylon homeworld in order to eradicate them from the Universe (but then they always 'spawn' somewhere else).

Will stop now before goin' off topic!

Ok - found some screenshots of the official BSG game.........

Is it me or are the models similar in quality to Coxxon's?

I honestly believe Coxxon's models are better than this... I know , it's XBOX but still... those models can't have more than 2-3k polygons...

Its only combat missions as well - BTRL cover this already. Vivendi-Universal have one advantage though - they own both Sci-fi channel and Sierra so they will have Bear's official music (preview to Razor sounds cool - anything with the Pegasus seems to get him going!)

I do agree DW - the quality is a bit low atm - will keep an eye out for any updates...

oh dear :?

that does not look anywhere near finished for a pc game...
it looks... Crap :o

why do they have to ruin a game such as this by sticking it on a console? :skeptic:

Oh no, the graphics looks very ugly. It is a 2d "simulation"? Looks like an ten years old computer game.

So is this going to be one of those games were you hold fire button, Random stuff pops from outside the screen focing you to have high reflexes? Oh, and leveling up consits of a new improved ship (insert template) and repeat the above. :skeptic:

Don't like what I see in the trailer so far. lets hope. Guess Ive been spoiled from X3

Someone had previously mentioned the new Battlestar Galactica game to be released by Sierra but I was unable to locate the post, so I apologize in advance if this is a repeat.

The new game is scheduled for release on October 16 (according to Amazon). Here is a link to the game's homepage for those of you who are interested. Yes, the game can be preordered from Amazon.com of you wish.
