 Hello
The name is Losman and I have a embarrassing confession to make, I just discovered this BSG public community by clicking on Stevios SIG. You have no Idea how tough that was even typing it, Anyway I'm also a BSG fan and knew some of you guys have been working on this MOD,(hard to miss with all the toaster avatars and sigs) VERY cool stuff. How are things going?

Favorite BSG moments:
1) pretty much the whole mini-series-loved it

2) the episode where Lee and the Pegasus bail the galactica and the old man out of serious trouble.(shame to lose the Pegasus " the Beast") One of the better space combat scenes I have ever seen ( actually it probably wasn't the scenes as much as the emotion involved) . Kept that one on the DVR so I can replay it anytime.

I don't really have any good computer skills ( when talking to the likes of you guys, no skills whatsoever ) to help.

Good luck, hope everything is smooth sailing for ya

Losman out

Hello all.

I'm Wolf518 and I've only made a couple posts on the forum. Sorry...I'm a bit new to forums. I just stumbled on this one and thought I'd post an intro.

Unfortunately I don't have much to offer you for useful skills because I know nothing about programming. My skills are all hardware related (I'm a PC tech). Sorry about that.

However, I have always been a major Galactica fan. I really need to commend all of you for your work on the Galactica mods for X3. I nearly fell out of my chair at the detail. OUTSTANDING!!! Two of my friends went out and bought the game after I showed them some screenshots.

Anyways, thank you all for your efforts. I have a pretty full schedule and I don't get to the forum very often. I love X3 and LOVE the BSG mods! I just spent nearly all my credits to purchase and outfit the Pegasus to go along with my Galactica. I guess I better get off my behind and make some more cash...

Thank you all for your efforts and hard work. What you've done is no small feat and your efforts are greatly appreciated.

-Wolf518

Hi! Our mod isn't finished yet, we're still working on it. There is Vipers mod, but it might be in German only. There are also bsg ships available from Hawkbs, but these only add them to the game.

Hi Martin! Welcome to the COTG forums! That's rubbish about them only showing the first episodes - you could try amazon for the dvd box sets? You would have to buy from amazon.co.uk (amazon.com will have different region encoding from Holland.)

Well I realise there is still ALOT to do but if you can get more input from people such as myself ho have not jet been involved maybe the help for all that needs to happen will grow.
And also if there is a try it out mod available you could possibly find yourself with an even bigger team so the real mod will be done faster and grow bigger :)
Otherwise lets just wait 8)

Just give a shout or PM or whatever and ill see what I can do in my small spare times :)

Hi BSG fans,

I'm in the UK and to be honest have joined to further my own needs :)
I have just had a eureka moment when it comes to texturing in 3DS Max and so I have been up until 2am for the last three nights with a renewed fervour for sci-fi modelling !

I have Doubleshadows tut and one by Magrathean Monkey but so far have ended up with an invisible ship in game and a few missing files in my X3 root :)

Both the above know what they are doing and that is the problem, never get a tech to write an instruction manual ! :) :)

Could any members point me in the direction of any other tutorials for getting models into X3 please ?

When i finally get the hang of it there will be no stopping me.

Cheers

It may end up as a TP class ship, has the front end of the Oddyssey from 2001 and the cargo part... so far its a cylinder with my corporation name painted on it :)
Tomorrow (well today actually) I'll try to sort some pics out.

@ Apollo , thanks for the link, that's one I haven't seen before.

Name: Neuron_Ned.
Skills: None to speak of.

I wish to covey my deepest apologies for not making my presents known earlier and praise the work being done with the COTG mod. Very impressive but that’s not worth much from a rookie.
Downloaded GMax with a view to being useful to someone one of the days. No purchased software yet, not until I can justify the spend with some semblance of proficiency in modelling etc. Ambitious I know but we all have to start somewhere goals and all.

First contact was the files from Hawkbs and now very much hooked.

All the very best and good hunting

Welcome! Gmax is very similar the commercial version 3ds max, and the included tutorials should give you a nice introduction!

OnYx
14-09-2008, 02:48 PM
Yeah, the main difference is rendering capability, which game modellers shouldn't care about. (except when they want to make flashy renderings like me)

Keep in mind that modelling for games may look really easy because of the fairly simple models, but it's actually more of a skill than modelling for shows and movies (really). Making something look good with relatively simple geometry is something you have to practice. I've always said that anyone can model, but only a few can model efficiently :)

Good luck with it, and Apollo is right, the tutorials and the help files that come with programs are your best friends. There's more in there than they teach you at schools.

Cheers,

OnYx

Hi there guys, I'm Oneleggedhaggis, or haggis for short.

I saw what you guys are doing and i think its really good, Great in fact and i wanted to see if i could help. I have been a fan of BSG since i was a small kidwhen my dad introduced me to the origional bsg series an i got scared when the cylons blow the high hell outa every thing in the first showing. My skills lye mostly in the Music/sound Fx area, definately not spelling or grammer. I'm Studying Music technology and computing at Uni and have been doing game audio and Sounds design. I have been having what you could say fun with C sounds and other music programming codes and programmes.

I am new to the whole X universe and modding for that matter but I want to help and i hope i can become a useful and valued member of the team.
