X1 "The Pirates"

X1 "The pirates", is a mod which will hopefully fill the gap between XBTF (X-tension) and x2 the threat. The mod did start off with the name XBTF Ressurection which its main idea was to re-create the old game, but since announcing the mod i have had alot of interest, and some good questions asked. This caused me to re-think what i am doing for the mod, so i've decided to base the mod in between xbtf and x2 to give me a some flexibility and it gives me the chance to explore the unexplored time between x beyond the frontier and x2 the threat.

This mod will hopefully have a good story line, joining some links between the two games. Hopefully if the custom GUI ever gets created and it works, we will be able to use it and it will give the story line much more life. Of course we are still looking for people to join the team, such as modellers, story writers, scripters ect.

I do like the idea SST, though the old style still appeals. TXU will help with whatever direction you want to take.

I in the same thoughts as Draxis. I only found 2x and x3. This would be good. I would like a go at it.

So this is also set after the Xtension time frame? Or parallel to it? :P

if we made it not only the main original plot but also interwoven a backstory story as well, the backstory could be the meat and the original story the spagetti holding it together this way we could fill in the loose ends as well as expand it more with new characters new evil lords, planets that were mentioned but never visited. something like what lucas did, with the sith for example.
in x3 the plot flows in a linier fashion, it would be a harry beast to program it for parallel or alternative endings as such, but im sure the gurus of code could do it.
now those people who never saw or played bytf it would be neat to introduce the characters in new ways people didnt expect them.
giving the story a fresh appeal. the added depth will apeal to those already familier with the original.
the minus would be the blocky original graphics. the ship designed were not good in the original because of the technology. in a x3 engine, for example, the ships would look bad. to make it look nice we would need to both follow the outline of a original ships intent, and also added bump maps and all to make it fit. not exactly a easy job since your not like saying im making this new ship here and adding 50 engines to it... ok, it is already established models that are already familiar therfore its a very hard job, the object both folowing the original design and new graphics update. not easy. i have to give a hat to anyone trying this monster task.

i thinkthe easy task in this endvevor is gona be writing the story, i think the hard task will be the modeling.

I like this idea, i've always liked the look of older X-ships, not that i'm saying the new ones are bad. I think its a brave thing to do and i think it will turn out great. If you need any help from me, dont heitate ;)
