The TXU Users Manual Next: Help:Threads and Posts
This page is a chapter in the book The TXU Users Manual.
An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site. Usually shortened to just forum, they are web applications that manage user generated content.

[top]The Basic Concept

Forums allow users to present information or questions to a community, so as to allow them to provide advice or information about the main topic or thread.

Most forum boards, including TXU, are grouped around specific topic types, and these are assigned specific 'forums' or 'boards' that contain that content. For example, here at TXU, content about the unmodded Egosoft game X³: Terran Conflict, is restricted to an English forum, or to a German forum.

Within these specified forums are separate threads, or topics, that relate to a particular question or discussion. Please see Threads and Posts for an explanation on what these are, and how they work.

Along with these discussions are opportunities to send Private Messages and Visitor Messages to other users, as well as the ability to upload files and pictures, rate threads and discussions, found Social Groups and interact on them, as well as search the forums for content relating to what you want to know.

Forums are run by an Administration and Moderation team that ensure the site maintains order, and keeps to a thread or forums theme, as well as providing guidance and support to whoever may need it.
