Kha'ak, an aggressive group of seemingly xenophobic creatures that have attacked repeatedly many of the races in the known universe. Little is known about this race.

[top]Kha'ak

Current information about the Kha'ak race is extremely limited, partly due to their relatively recent arrival in the universe and also because of the lack of any diplomatic contact.

An extremely aggressive and xenophobic species, much current information about the Kha'ak is based on conjecture and rumour. However, it is generally understood that the Kha'ak are a hybrid race, comprising elements of both Insectoid and Reptilian biology. They have large compound eye structures and insectoid mouthparts, and a leathery outer skin similar to that found in reptiles.

They also show evidence of having a caste based social structure akin to many insect colonies. This has enabled them to develop highly advanced technology which differs markedly from that found amongst the other known races.

[top]History

The first appearance of the Kha'ak was in the year 764. Sporadic incursions into known space were followed by an enormous and catastrophic assault on the Argon sector Presidents End. This attack completely destroyed all life and infrastructure in the sector and led the Argon government to declare war on the Kha'ak.

Soon after this event Julian Brennan found evidence of further Kha'ak infiltration when he discovered an energy signature in the Argon system Ore Belt. On closer examination, this signature was found to be a Kha'ak Outpost hidden deep within an asteroid. Julian Brennan destroyed the outpost and managed to collect vital samples that proved critical to further analysis of the Kha'ak by the Argon military.

The next Kha'ak incident involved the abduction of Julian's father Kyle Brennan. Whilst scanning the remnants of an ancient Terran ship, the AP Gunner, Kyle was surrounded and then transported on board a Kha'ak ship. Despite being an overtly aggresive act, it appeared that Kyle Brennan allowed himself to be captured by the Kha'ak, offering little, if any resistance.

Not long after these incidents, the Kha'ak proceeded to launch a large scale attack on the Argon system Omicron Lyrae. This attack involved a large Kha'ak capital ship and numerous smaller Kha'ak cluster fighter craft. After a prolonged battle in which Julian Brennan managed to safely rescue his father Kyle from the Kha'ak capital ship, the Kha'ak were eventually destroyed by a coordinated effort involving, Julian Brennan, Saya Kho and Brett Serra who was tragically killed in the manouvere.

At present, the Kha'ak have not been involved in any diplomatic communication with any of the known races

[top]Today

The Kha'ak are still a relative unknown within the universe but their technology has become the subject of much interest. They have developed a system of "gateless jumpdrives" allowing them to appear at will at any given set of coordinates within a sector.

The Kha'ak weaponry is similarly exotic, their laser weaponry operates via a technology based upon Kyon particles. and is known to exist in 3 categories of increasing magnitude, Alpha Kyon Emitter, Beta Kyon Emitter and Gamma Kyon Emitter. These weapons are known to be incredibly efficient, requiring very little power to operate and inflicting huge damage on their targets. Kyon based weapons are also extremely accurate, and rarely miss their intended target due to their instantaneous firing mechanism, by which the beam strikes almost immediately after the weapon is fired.

Smaller Kha'ak ships of the M5, M4 and M3 classes also possess the ability to link together and form a "Kha'ak Cluster". This technology is thought to be highly efficient when performing interstellar Jumps.
