Medusa - While being neither as fast as the Split's Chimera or as heavily protected as the Teladi Kea, the Paranid Medusa remains a strong ship for those who choose balance over a particular strength in one area. The Medusa is a very capable M3+ class craft, and is able to mount the BPSG in its main weapons array, something that is very uncommon in its class. This, as well as an above average speed, makes the Medusa the perfect ship for dealing with patrols of enemy fighters. The Paranid government, learning that Bala Gi Research Inc. was to develop enhanced heavy fighters for other races, asked the company to investigate new design options for a heavy fighter to provide load-carrying capacity enhancements over the Perseus. The Medusa was the result. This new design fills a number of capability gaps that exist within the Paranid fleet.

The Medusa is a solid but uninspired M3+. It trades HEPT turrets for PSG, has fairly good shields, and only the LX has better weapons recharge. Speed and handling fall somewhere in between the other ships of its class.
