MoneySpinner TIP
Title: Faunus & Cartel Shield Hacker Money-Spinner
Synopsis: Make Money by stealing cargo from a Faunus
Difficulty: 1 (Only because you need about 10 mill to set it up)
Reward: You can make up to 120 million per trip - stealing GPPC, FLAK etc..
Ship Advised: Can do it in most things, but the best is undoubtedly something with large cargo - therefore, the best bet is the Dolphin SF from Kingdom End with 14,000 cargo. You will also need the Cartel Shield Hacker.
Adverse Effects: We have had reports that when you do this, your Goner Reputation WILL drop and quite quickly, so if you want to continue getting your Jump-Drives, be prepared to become a little bit errr "religious" in your donations.
How to Find: Not on BBS - Found in a Random Sector
There May be a couple of these in your X-Verse.
Overview:
Outside of HCF hunting the best moneymaker has got to be Faunus hunting.
For this to work you need the Bonus Pack installed, you also need to invest about 10 million credits first, give or take.
1. Buy a TS, cargo capacity is the key here so a Dolphin Super Freighter from Kingdom End is best - and max out it's speed and Cargo capacity.
2. Buy the Cartel Shield Hacker from a pirate base - this may only be up for sale every now and again, so keep an eye out and buy it when it becomes available.
3. Buy a freight scanner.
4. Find a Faunus.
5. Get within 200m of the Faunus. Best place is on the top or is it the bottom? Anyway look for an engine on its own near the middle, sit here and you will be within the 200m.
6. Scan the Faunus to see what it is carrying.
7. Start stealing all the cargo you can, the bigger the item the longer it takes.
8. Sell your loot. I just sold 60 million credits worth of stuff in one "run".
The Faunus will turn red but no other ships will, tried this even in a Teladi core sector and no other ships turned red or came to assist the Teladi Faunus.
Once you have finished stealing what you want simply com the Faunus and say "Sorry", the Faunus will turn blue ready for another days pilfering. The Faunus also restocks quite quickly, I stole all its GPPC's, then took all its BFLAk's, by the time I had them another GPPC or 2 was "in stock".
Tips from other Pilots:
I have assigned a cheap m5 to shadow the Faunus so I know where it is at all times, may stick something a bit beefier to follow it cause that m5 wont last long.
You will lose your Teladi police licence and some race rep (I think, though I am quite high rank with the Teladi so didn't notice a drop if there was one). Make sure you do NOT fire at it at any stage otherwise you will get the sector patrols assisting it.
Great for earning money or getting weapons for outfitting your ships, was able to get all the bflacks I needed for my Hawk.
I just tried the shield hacker on a Faunus myself. I didn't make 60 millon, I made 120! And left with some space free on the hold! This is far worse than the HCF! And you need only 9 millon or so to set it up!
Be careful with the Faunus trick! The use of the device will cause your goner reputation to go down! I went all the way down to Heathen before I noticed!
Tip from Sartorie
Actually - Capturing it is the better way - repair it and sell it then take a look for the next one - you get virtually no rep hit from it and you do not get that nasty Goner rep hit from the CSH
