    The [b]Yaki[/b] are an organized group of [wiki]pirates[/wiki] who have been known to terrorize many unclaimed and governed sectors alike, using much stronger fleet tactics and equipment to subdue powerful opponents over commonly perceived pirates.

    [h="2"]Yaki[/h]
    The pirate factions are made up from a diverse mix of species and ship types, and whilst they are treacherous and untrustworthy, there is still an element of honour amongst thieves. If a pirate really wants to insult someone however, he will often refer to them as a [b]'Yaki[/b]'. The [b]Yaki[/b] are a distinct faction within the pirate community and they are generally loathed, even by the rest of the pirate members.

    The [b]Yaki[/b] form a sort of extended family group, akin to a Mafia organisation, and rule with a similar mentality. They have laid claim to a small group of sectors and are now set upon expanding their influence into the surrounding space, through fear and military superiority.

    [h="3"]History[/h]

    The [b]Yaki[/b] are becoming a prominent power in the X Universe. They have taken advantage of the chaos caused by the [wiki]Kha'ak[/wiki] invasion to seize their own space, and are trying to become a dominant force in the universe. The recent spate of [wiki]Kha'ak[/wiki] attacks have caused many of the known races to spread their remaining military forces very thinly, and the [b]Yaki[/b] have exploited this weakness to carry out raids on many facilities, especially those in nearby [wiki]Argon[/wiki] sectors. These attacks are increasing as the [b]Yaki[/b] continue to terrorise unprotected space.

    [h="3"]Diplomacy[/h]

    The [b]Yaki[/b] are despised even by the other pirate factions, and are always looking to raid or capture any resources they can find. They are in a constant state of hostility with all known races.

    [h="3"]Today[/h]

    Little is known about the [b]Yaki[/b] faction other than the obvious; they are extremely aggressive and it is a brave pilot who dares to enter their space. They are known to be a highly organised and secretive society, and at present their true motives are unknown by anyone outside of the Syndicate.

    The [b]Yaki[/b] faction obviously have some significant technological and engineering ability, and have developed a unique set of fighter craft, the [wiki]Raijin[/wiki], [wiki]Fujin[/wiki], [wiki]Susanowa[/wiki], and new [wiki]Tenjin[/wiki] which are considered to be amongst the best fighters in their respective classes. Many travellers and merchants tell tales of Yaki capital ships such as the [wiki]Akuma[/wiki] and [wiki]Ryu[/wiki], scouring the spacelanes for not only easy pickings but entire fleets to subdue. They were also responsible for the advent of the [wiki]Disruptor Missile[/wiki] several jazuras ago, now widely used and somewhat obsolete, but no less useful.

    It is also believed that the [b]Yaki[/b] may occasionally offer their services in criminal activities: raiding, extortion, embezzlement, fraud, kidnap, and targeted destruction are certainly amongst their known pursuits.

    The [wiki]Yaki[/wiki] and its roster are both deeply secretive, but one Syndicate member stood above all others and was instrumental in bringing the [wiki]Yaki[/wiki] to where it is today. Curious? Explore the Yaki sectors near Savage Spur, as Weaver's Tempest will hold the answer.
