this is probably a stupid question that has been asked many times already but is XTM compatible with the newest version of X3 (v2.5)
Yes it is.
The only glitch is that the Upload data icon is missing. We have added the needed info to make it show correctly in the upcoming 0.7.4 patch tho.

it is compatible if you install the mod to ver. 2.0.02 if you install the mod to ver. 2.5 it will be messed up . there is a thread about it somewhere on the forums

It's only messed up if you patch to 2.5 AFTER you have installed XTM. If you do it beforehand things are fine.

The X-Tended Mod and New Horizons are two separate and large mods. They are unfortunately not compatible with each other, so you will have to choose which one you want, or have two separate X3 installations on your machine with one mod on each.

New Horizons V2.0 has just been released (about a week ago), and XTM has a new patch/update in the works right now.
