could be intentional ... providing cannon / capture fodder for the player that will not kill his traders - it would fit with the new, easier concept

I had a look but can't find a similar topic. It seems to me that certain Pirate patrols are always neutral, no matter what.
No how bad your rep is with the pirates, the roaming pirate patrols just don't care about attacking you, or anyone for that matter, so basically they're docile cannon fodder, by the time they're through warning you not to continue attacking you can eat through half their patrol.
I had a look at these patrols through the script editor and their flag is 0 (neutral) against most things. Does anyone know how soon ES is going to fix this problem?

Rejoice - For very bad things are about to happen !

There were some posts about this on the ES forum, so I guess they're informed. It's probably one of the many things that will get fixed in the next patch (I hope).

I hope so too... the numbers are increased in sectors where hits have taken place, and not all the support ships have turned red... I have sectors that have about 20 Pirate M6s wandering around, never mind the rest... it certainly doesn't help the frame rate in those sectors either (but great boarding practice for new marines)!

I found a neat little script that fixes a lot of bad mojo with the pirate faction, in fact I'd be prepared to say it fixes all issues with pirate notoriety.
It's called 'friendly pirates' (dont let the name fool you) and it fixes the neutral/enemy flags properly for the pirate faction, when your pirate faction notoriety drops below -500 they turn real nasty real quick, even the patrols go hostile, woo.
