Default [GUIDE] How Do I Install a Cockpit Mod?

There are two cockpit mods currently available, of which only Galaxy613's will work with the Xtended Mod: Here.

Download the Galaxy613 mod and then check what .cat, .dat files you have in your root X3 Reunion directory. Probably they will number 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, etc. with .dat and .cat file extensions. Find the last number, in this case 06.cat and 06.dat.

      (1) If the highest number is 06, then copy the 07.dat and 07.cat files in the download to this same folder.

      (2) If the highest number is not 06 (say 07) then rename the 07.cat and 07.dat files to the highest number plus one. In this second example, it would be 08.dat, 08.cat.

This procedure installs it as a false patch and so will be loaded along with the Xtended Mod at the start.

Further details on how in install IMPs cockpit mod will be released as they become available.

I've been looking around this site quite a bit recently and all the few
in-ship screenshots that I've seen so far dont have have cockpits. I have the X2 cockpit callback mod already, and I think wit would be strange to jump from one ship with a cockpit to another without one. I know this isn't tottaly on topic, but I haven't found a thread where it would be, but I wanted to ask if you guys were developing cockpits to go along with the plethora of new ships your adding.

If you're not already, then I humbly ask that you do. I dont care whether or not this would makes the .7 release as its already like 6 days passed your estimated release date and I dont want to push you guys any harder than you're already going.

Even if all you do is re-use Egosoft's incredibly un-inspired cockpits for X3 and borrow from other modders, I, as well as others, would greatly appreciate it. Frankly, now that I have been playing with Galaxy's cockpit mod for a while, I find the game severly lacking without the cockpits.

Both Galaxy's and Imp.-'s cockpit mod should be fully compatible with the upcomming .7 release. There won't be a new ship without a cockpit if you like it that way. You'll probably have to adjust their .cat/.dat numbers but that should be all.

Developping our own cockpits is a remote possibility at this moment.
We simply lack time and/or staff to do everything we'd like to.

Also the new modified Galaxy Mod(the one with improved shaders) works perfect with XTM too.

Thanks, yea, I ended up using that Galaxy one. I think I found the modified one, this one was modified by someone else, and didn't work too well with my video card. Oh well, Galaxy's are just fine

i actually have the mod but unlike what everyone is saying its not fully compatible with xtm some parts of the cockpits will randomly disappear, it does not happen that often and its mostly just the the odd display or set of buttons but its still quite annoying
the only reason for it to happen that i can think of is if the xtm mod has new shaders that are some how interfering :'(

      Example:

      (normal, working fine)

(not normal, annoying and not fine )

i should also point out that this seems to only effect the old x2 cockpits new ones added work fine, likewise imps cockpit mod works pretty well apart from the fact its not compatible with xtm and overwrites some animation files, however if somebody makes a patch so it would work with xtm it would then be quite easy to just replace all of the old x2 cockpits with imps new ones.

or somebody could just make a cockpit mod for xtm :S :P

I recently subled over this thread.

Something I'm missing here is, that Imp's Cockpit Callback Mod in the version from the ES homepage isn't compatilbe with XTM.
Althoug Imp made a hotfix for that, which can be found here.

As the readme is only german it translated it to english. Here
