Hi!
I'm one of those players that's a bit "worried" about losing the old universe so I have a suggestion to that problem that might please everyone (those that are in favour and those against the new universe)

Instead of erasing the old universe to make the new one, why not create a way (a special gate for example) where one could travel between the 2 universes, so when we were on the new universe the old one would stop to exist (the time would stop there and everything) but if at any time a player wants to go back to old one the only thing he would have to do is to cross that gate and the old one would replaced by the new one(now the time on the new one would stop since it wouldn't exist at all until he crosses the gate again)!

I don't know if this is even possible but if so I think it a way of getting a new, smaller and more efficient universe without losing the old one!

I'm sorry if my english isn't the best, but I hope that at least you got my idea!

thats technically not possible within the TC engine

Besides, the decision of starting a new universe is already set in stone. We've got months, soon a year's worth of work based on that.

...But don't let the bad news put you off.
Remember, even though XBF had the same universe, it was dramticly differnet in X2 and X3.
So getting used to a new one isn't that bad

I can assure everyone who is worried that the new universe is aimed to be no less detailed than the old one. It is one of the highlights of the mod and therefore close attention is paid to details.

Regarding the new universe, Won't changing the universe break all of ego's quests? How will the player get the PHQ and will the HUB be making a return (Please say yes)

Afaik the egosoft plots will be deactivated but the player will get a chance to earn his HQ

Yes. The Egosoft Plots won't be available anymore. This is a lot of reasons of which we're going to inform you in the future.

Of course one reason is that they wouldn't make much sense in a new universe.
