it looks like they upped the probably to get a "bring me this ship" kindof missions (IE: <person> wants <race> <m5 - TP> ship)



I have noticed they also made a big visual change to the Starburst Shockwave Cannon. It always had a visible projectile before, but it was very hard to see. Just a tiny speck. Now, it fires a bright, white "lozenge" or "lance" that can be very easily seen. It also has an awesome new sound effect if you're sitting in the turret when you fire it! This looks really impressive when a turret with 8 or 10 SSCs (such as the Tyr's front or top turret) opens up. A very nice touch, and I'm glad they changed it. I haven't checked any other Flak-type weapons to see if they were affected... although now that I think about it, I saw a Xenon K or J firing some large, blue lances that were exploding just like Cluster Flak Arrays when they reached maximum range... so maybe they changed CFA, also? Does anyone have any experience with those or with Flak Artillery Array (FAA) since the patch?
Funny, it wasn't in the patch notes anywhere... or maybe something on my PC was just broken until now, and the patch fixed it, lol....

i spawnd some ships for you that could use those weapons and tried em out (without using CMOD..as it spoofs them up alot)
the SSC has been changed, and it looks like theyve changed it to the CMOD graphic, as they look exactly the same, (before 2.5 or CMOD it looked like a dinky lil blueish black something that looked unimpressive) it looks like the after effect has changed...looks alot more...flaky and abit like the CFA lol i dont like the new sound of it, the old sound was way better
CFA has been changed to a bigger burst radius (and looks wicked awesome with 8x forward mounted ones..kinda reminds me of the homeworld 2 flak frigate) and FAA is...still wickedly unremarkable and vastly needing and wanting in the graphics department P=
CMOD changes the CFA as instead of a giant spread it does a FFA style explosion then shoots shrapnel BEHIND the target damaging anything behind it which is just as effective as vanilla's...but not as impressive looking
i wish they would redo the vanilla EMPC, it looks like a giant sugar cube <_< lmao
as for the boarding, havent noticed much of a change, as i use my marines just like my ships, in overpowering quantity with slightly good quality. sure ~60% of the allocated marines usually die during 1 op, but theyre replaceable in 15 - 30 non seta minutes, and my carriers elite guys are always on standby just incase theres a particulary tough ship to board (i only save those who reach 4 - 5 stars in fighting, everyone else is throwaway)

Hmm, well i did start a new game under 2.5 now and i am really disappointed from boarding... in 2.1 it was relativly easy, but now the losses are significant and more than that, it is pure luck to board anything with an M6...
TLs are impossible cause to less marines...
M6s are theoretically possible, but the marines need much, much time until they reach the ship (if they do)
TPs often have passengers so no boarding possible
So boarding is now more or less useless... i mean, if you need a M7M to board properly, you already have more than enough money and don´t need to board anymore. Together with the huge time amount of training the marines, now it´s completly obselete.
In my eyes the difficulty of 2.1 was ok... the game should be fun and no save-and-reload-loop.
Beside this i think, that the 2.5 patch is a really good thing![]()

Asides from the removal of copy protection the patch contained nothing of significance to me.
I don't use the boarding side at all so everything on that issue is irrelevant to me.
The non suicidal UT update is probably the only other thing on there that i was glad to see.

i started with 2.5, so having no experience with previous versions i could say it is well done.
Unfortunately i played XTM in X3:R, so my expectations were a bit higher.

hmm... I've just finished doing the Aldrin missions in 2.5, last time I did them, it was when they first came out (2.0?)...
Some things seem to have been tidied up, but still there is a problem, and a bug in the tractor mission...
I used a Diemos to tractor (yes, I know M6s work better, but I was hoping things had been improved!)... when I got it through the first gate (at the 3rd attempt) it had mysteriously changed into a Tokyo (the one with the circular thingybob on the side) although it was still showing the TL sign...putting it then on auto to the next gate made it do a circular tour of the sector ending up at the NE corner instead of the W gate!
When I got it to the W gate (on manual), it refused to go through, possibly due to the queue on either side... I even tried waiting for those queues to go, but it still didn't work! I don't understand why ES haven't sorted this mission out!
Fortunately, ES do allow you to complete the mission by failing it,
something I tried very hard not to do, but eventually, after hours of trying, I had to stop due to hair loss!
Has anyone else experience of this mission, if so, how did it go? I presume this doesn't happen every time, or it would have been sorted already... or is it that you're supposed to use a M6? (if so, WHY DON'T THEY TELL US?)![]()
