You need 'Explorer Command Software' to get the scan asteroids command, and a 'Mineral Scanner' to have the option to use 'Scan Asteroids', once installed you will find it in the 'Navigation Command' menu.

Finally found the Explorer Software in the BEAN sector........ time to put that Rapier to use.
