Just started modeling this little bugger, only rough shape so far.

Nice model !! O0..Personally loves those pointy wings on the back :)

I guess this ship is being make for the Paranids ?!:think:
and for the big triangle shaped thing on the belly , ...is it docking slots for m3s ?:lol:

scale down the image. AFAIK max allowed size is 500*350

Small update, an first sketch of the main guns.
The 3 ring structures on the ship are the weapon mounts.

The ship wont have any means to dock with the usual fighter craft, it is foremost a prototype.

Final Fantasy isn't so far off; I will refine the hull plating of the ship once done with the low poly base mesh today, i dread the uv mapping , most boring part ...

This ship certainly reminds me of japanese animations :)

How is the progress on your other ship??....i believed it was a Terran`s. :)

My terran vessel is nearly finished i will post the whole model once i am completely done with the texturing. Got sidetracked today somewhat...
Will work on this little fighter craft once done with the other ship. On a side note, played too much gradius the last days.

Thats good, you can still add lots of details.

A good polycount for an M7-sized ship is around 25,000.

You should probably work on those spikes a little. As they are I fear they will be a pain to texture. :|

also with existing x3 docking stations , those spikes may cause much unwanted problems for docking/undocking manually :)


will those spikes retract when in slow speed , and extract in cruising speed ?? :)

Meh, texturing wont be the problem, should work just fine with zbrush and uv tiles, at least thats what i hope ...
Regarding the docking issue, not really sure how i should fix this, will probably just give the ship a small shuttle for cargo transports.

Rough outline how the hull plating of the ship will look

All your ships, aside from your M2, are looking quite sleak. I personally vote for a new race rather then assigning them to already exsiting races. ;)

Small update, model is actually nearly finished, but cant really render it at the moment (...) it is kinda sliced apart. Redoing some parts of the mesh , killing the last faces >4 etc, and besides that my girlfriend is keeping me on a short leash :o

Hm, maybe i should really upgrade the size of the ship, some parts of the tower/podstructures really look like landingbays in hindsight...

Updated the render of the previous post, still have to attach the new armor platings to the mesh and cut and paste the new nose of the ship :rolleyes:

i have 2 ideas: splitting like the hyperion

or continue the lines from the heck like i marked (and make it a bit wider):

if you do that, give it something of the terran capitals, that cornerous top. then it would fit best as the "small" terran M7 (ego-class)

well, after thinking again: the idea with splitting the front sucks really :-/

i disagree virus with the Hyperion idea and the go fast stripes on the nose.
any details along the front should be in the form of sweeping curves from under the belly giving the impression of teeth.

i thought a good name for this ship would be " KRAKEN "

Altrough it has already been done once by ES ,but the suggestion by "TheVirus" is way better than just leave it as is, or if you don`t fancy that . you can always make a hugh big canon out from this type of nose shape,too:)

Hm, i will try modeling 2 versions of the ship nose.
And concerning the ships-class name, i don't think kraken would fit it,

here is sideview of the ship, you can see the scales at the underside.

Looking great! But please don't put teeth impressions on the ship. With the overall unique look of the vessel, maybe it could be ship of the Ancient One's?

i was not looking for it to have teeth just know it would look a little like that.
just thought that panels (6-7) under the nose shaped to fit there in line with the contours would look good

AFAIK he is using Zbrush 3 AS, it not a bad programme although its not really a 3d modelling tool it can still do some cool things to do with modelling an you can always export your mesh strait to 3D SM or Maya.

Phew, i am done with most of my exams so far, should give me enough air to model some more.

The programs i use are silo 2, zbrush and 3d studio max.
zbrush most of the time only for character sketches and the like, spaceships and other mechanical models i do in silo 2, thats a pure polygon modeler and later export it to 3ds max for rendering.
