I suppose with textures and those little things (antennas, locators etc.) This will look great. At the moment, no offence, but it looks a bit too plain, I mean, the whole ship is like a Pyramid, and, frankly, there is nothing to interrupt that form..

Maybe a well-placed command bridge might change the look completely though, can't tell just yet.
Good job overall, thumbs up!

How's your texturing? If it's as good as your modelling, some of these ships are going to be really awesome!

small update http://bitterbaum.com/clutterbane2.jpg model at 19k polygons.

Regarding texturing, i usually am just too lazy for the uv unwrapping part when just doodling around. Next thing would be the uv seams, i know how to do texture and i am pretty confident in my skills regarding it; i will texture this ship here lightly in zbrush using uv tile mapping and make some normal maps to show some battle damage at the hull.

http://bitterbaum.com/spaceship2.jpg the model of this ship is actually uvmapped, tested some normalmaps in that render.
http://bitterbaum.com/asteroid.jpg similiar test like the spaceship.

 now you've proved you can do it...

Rough outline of the turrets for this ship http://bitterbaum.com/turret4.png

excellent looking turret too...

Yeah, turret is amazing!

I wonder if it will be larger or smaller than Egosoft's Capital ship turrets?

hullplating added as a map, next coloring.

Looking great but I think the front (until the ship broadens) has a little too much greeble - it gets hard to see the actual form of the ship. The turret looks great.

Tha plating -- looks messy I think. How about trying to use some X3 textures instead? (tho I wouldn't know which textures to use - the ship looks too different from the ships of any other race).

Since your a modeler now, I'll ask a question that has bothered me, why does everyone, or at least a lot of people, add legs or posts sticking out the front of ships? Wouldnt it be important to see clearly especially in bigger ships? Or are we all thinking the, sealed hull/camera for viewing thing? In fighters I like a clear front view, in bigger ships I see a lot of arms and even lighted posts for some reason, like the Marauder, ya I know eye candy, but not that needed is it?

Even the xenon cap ships look unfinished in X3..they have metal rods sticking out everywhere, maybe its just me, but I like a solid looking, smooth design, I do like this one it would make a good cruiser class, call it an m7-8.

Here's a challenge for you, I ask another guy to try it...a new carrier design, not tall like the argons, more like a candy bar laying down, with launching tubes along the sides and a landing bay in front, almost like the pirate carrier, but rectangular, with turrets and a command tower on top..just a nice smooth design, with little excessive detail..lol.
