View Full Version : [SHIPS]Rocket Frigate

Morning hard working modders ;) ,
I really hope my english will be enough for this , but if that not the case just ask !
So here we go ... i couldn`t sleep yesterday ,so instead of tryinfg either way
i was thinking of ships that might improve XT even more .
The ships i have in mind is a long range Roket frigate which has no turrets
low shielding average speed it should be classified as M8 .
Well the only "Weapon" it has are 2 roket batteries each has 4 rocket pits .
The range of this weapons should be about 15-20km so that u can go into
postion and fire its rokets without being interrupted , but because of the
lack of turrets and shielding it is completly defenceless against fighter crafts .
It can produce 2 different roket types :
ACAP(Anti Capital) : speed: 200m/s dmg: 1GJ(0,5GJ?) ?shield: 25MJ?
ACORV(Anti Corvette): speed 300m/s dmg: 125MJ ?shield: 5MJ?
Every battery can only mount 4 rokets of one type , everything what needs to
be done after produceing them is choosing a target go into the combat menu
and firing the desired battery .
I have an picture from Homworld2 in my head where the rokets are going
100m straight up and then go into the target direction would be awesome
if that could be done .

So much to the theory ... i don`t have much exp in modding and stuff ,
but i think i have an good idea what can be done and what can`t .
Therefore i know that the number of new weapons is limited and i think
i read somewhere that u need to restart to include new Roket types .
I thought of using M5 as "rokets" just add two M5s to the game give them
the looks of rokets and fire them from the roket frigate (it worked with the
drone frigate doesn`t it ?) well now things get difficult and i`m not sure if
can be done : the M5s shouldn't avoid the enemy ship they must collide with
it dunno if u can bring the KI to do that.
The second prob is that when it collides u have to deal the dmg @ the target

Well after i wrote that i'm not even convinced that this could work out ;) .
Just give me ur honest thoughts thats all i ask .

Doesn't Xtended have 2 of those? The Poseidon and Agamemnon.
Both missileboats only a little different from your specs

Engelsschwinge > Development on someting exactly like you state has been shelved due to team-resources being too low atm to make it work and balanced. Perhaps we will return to it at some point in the future.

in my oppinion a weapon that could fire at about 15-20 km unbalances the game waaaaaaaay to much
to counter act the lack of anti-fighter protection i would escort it with 1-2 M7 with FAA
that way im pretty much unbeatable by both fighters and capital ships because the missile frigate will kill the capital ships and the M7's will kill off the fighters

Dont worry about things like that, let us handle it.
For one we know a thing or 2 about ranges (it will be a cold day in hell before any weapon with ranges above 6/7km makes it into XTM) and 2ndly, the AI
doesnt even know how to handle weapons like that.

u know if u have ever plyed the game NWN with the second add-on u will see that hell is quite cold indeed :) :lol:

Lol! I really liked NWN but never had the time to play Hordes of the Underdark.

But I'm sure the uber range weapons won't happen too soon...

yeah i dont like uber ranged weapons
if we would have uber range weapons just 1 ship would be enough to kill of a xenon sector
and speaking of NWN i sugest u get Hordes of the Underdark, its awesome, and the final ******* u have to kill is godlike(literally) its been 5 months now since i reached the final battle with him but still i havent won :cry:

I have a sorcerrer that can kill 3 Balrogs at the same time , so I'm sure I will have no problem taking care of the final boss. I have the add-on on my table , but XTM and school doesn't give me the time to play it.

LOL just 3 balrogs?u need to kill at least 6 of em mainly because the last monster it immune to pretty much all magic(not even when i summon a dragon it doesnt make more 15 damage to him)
