View Full Version : What happened to the slaves?

This has been on my mind since I started playing...
During my first hours in 2.0 I managed to bail a few pirate ships, I had Cargo life support system instaled on my Jaguar and I was hoping to make some extra credits by capturing the pilots and selling them as slaves at the nearest pirate base.
However, upon capturing them, I noticed they were displayed as passengers in my cargo hold, where in previous games, they would appear as slaves.
As my skills in scripting, programming etc are lacking, I rely on logic, and I assume that this is a glitch caused by the rumoured faulty prisoner rescue mission...
Given the fact that the prisoniers are astronauts, they have to appear as passengers, so that the receiving NPC can collect them from your cargo hold, however this modification may have caused all astronauts wheter from missions or bails to appear as passengers...thus making the slave status inexistent or disabled...
I appologise if I`m not making any sense:(

Passengers and marines are m sized cargo so a Jaguar can't pick them up, slaves are base cargo size so you can fill your jaguar full of them if you wish.
It works the same as vanilla if you want to enslave a passenger/marine you need to go to a pirate base for the option to become available.
I don't recall astronauts that you collect, auto turned into slaves in v1.2.

iirc you can pick up passengers in an M5... they are just not converted to slaves automatically which you can only do on pirate bases (vanilla feature).

I spent 30min working on a F-16 engine during a full-afterburn engine run. It is a unique experience, you can actually feel your teeth vibrating against each other.

I imagine this is how passengers would feel packed in around these smaller m5's...something I wouldn't subject them to. Don't get me wrong, I loved the experience...but I wasn't commuting. I just wouldn't be able to get it out of my head if I picked up any passengers...hence I intentionally skip this equipment. I rather splat them.

i thought pirates always have tooth gaps, their teeth wouldn't vibrate against each other... they might fall out though.

Something interesting guys, I picked up about 6 bailed pilots, took them to a pirate base in pirate sector, and was unable to sell them as slaves, there was no option to do so in the pirate base. I checked freight, but there was no option to turn them into slaves. I ended up flying close to a Terran station in the next system over and just ejecting them.

Kind of disappointed my tactic of enslaving bailed pilots doesn't seem to work now. Kind of twisted of me, but it is what it is.

was unable to sell them as slaves

Well i must say your post deserves some attention :D - I mean i like the idea of picking up bailed pilots and selling em as slaves >:D

I think K.J. might look into this and possibly plan something for a future add-on

It#s a hardcoded base feature of X3:TC - are you sure you looked at the right place Vhyle? It#s in the cargo menu if you press enter when selecting a passenger while docked at a piratebase iirc.

I'll take another look, I was really tired when I tried it and got frustrated and went to bed. I had been up for 22 hours straight or something like that, my 32 year old body doesn't like that anymore apparently. I'll post back in a few.

I tried to do a rescue the prisoners mission in my starter M5 a few minutes in the game and though I heroically dispatched the escort and the TS/TP (cant remember) transport I sort of failcascaded by splating them instead of picking them up... WITH a cargo life support system installed...

Weird?
