      Question Ideas!

      HI, everybody! Long, long time. I must say - I am sorry for not being as active as normal here. I've been playing Terran Conflict pretty much non-stop. Feel free to take a swing at me for leaving.

      As I've done before, I've expressed a desire to begin programming mods/scripts/missions for X. Only, this time around I've actually got ideas, and the resources to do something with them!

      Anyways...I pre-ordered Terran Conflict and am quite impressed with the quality of some of the missions. Though, I feel that there are combat missions that are lacking a bit as far as the fun level. I mean, once the player gets a fleet or even a group of ships, most of the combat missions short of a Xenon Invasion lose all the excitement!

      So, to learn my way around the script editor, I was thinking about starting some scripting for a new type of combat mission. One centered around fleet-based combat, sometimes even helping a race invade another race. I know it won't be easy - but I'm willing to give it a shot. [I know that some of the combat missions can generate insanely large fleets - but I want to generate missions based on fleets to begin with - not just spawn them for station defense or something similar.]

      Aaaaand, at 12:30AM, I get another idea: There are guys that will sell you sector maps, and asteroid information - but nobody sells Encyclopedia information! The prices would vary based on the type of data, it would usually be in numbers. For example, the options could be: 2 Terran ships, 4 Lasers, 1 Shield, or 3 Argon stations. What about this one!

      A few days later, another idea came to me: There are guys who sell you ships, and guys who want to get abandoned ships back - maybe people could sell abandoned ship coordinates, but not the traditional abandoned ships - they are created when you purchase the ship and it gets random equipment, sometimes you can luck out and get a fully kitted war machine!

      In my opinion, it can bring back a lot of fun to the combat missions in the mid-late game. What do you guys think?

      fleets?? what can i say?? in most situations they are pretty useless. you can always do the job with properly equiepd ship suitable for this type of mission. for example M2's have double use as cap-killers GPPC/BEMPC (down to M8 ) and fighter killer BFAA/GKE for larger ships(M6-M4) and BPBE for smaller (M5). just have an alternative weapon seеs in cargo bay and switch to them if nessecary. comments???

      yeah, once you have a good enough destroyer, you're set. Fleet actions would be too hit and miss because there is very little in the way of direct control of formations

      Yeah - but once you get a fleet, most of the combat missions are boring. Really boring. Fleet-based stuff will liven it up, even if it doesn't really make it any more 'fun'.

      Not to mention, that by "fleet" i mean at LEAST fifteen ships - so even one properly equipped ship will struggle unless you are a very good pilot. And this is just the "average" difficulty. You will love Very Hard, I bet. Fifty or more large ships - including at least 4 or 5 of each M1, M2, and M7...I can see myself getting blown to bits already.

      Fifty or more large ships - including at least 4 or 5 of each M1, M2, and M7
      and you will get a slideshow

      Well of course massive numbers of ships cause performance drops. Hence why it's optional to use.

      I expect Combat Mod II will be out for TC fairly soon... that should help your fleet idea a lot!

      I like the other idea too, it's great for those that aren't familiar with the game and weapons/shields, etc.. but it should not be too expensive, as the information is/will be freely available on forums, if you know where to look
