Default Voice recognition

Alright guys I made a small video showing how I control X3:TC with my voice!

Recently I just got the idea to control my pc with my voice, it just seemed cool. After that I thought, maybe I can control TC also. So after adding some custom voice commands I was able to control some basic stuff, really cool

Anyway I'm planning on creating scripts to do more advanced stuff like wing commands, turret commands and lots of other stuff, but I was wondering what you think and if there is any real interest in it. If not I'm just going to keep it to my self, but I thought I just show you guys this video

The software I'm using to control TC is called e-speaking and can be found on this website:
http://www.e-speaking.com/

For the first 30 days it's free to use and for the first 15 days you can add and modify commands, the program costs $14 if you decide to buy it (I didn't, I still have the trial

If you can do that, I'll be amazed and tip my hat to you. Does it work well?

hi guys, I kinda thought there wasn't as much interest here on TXU. On the egosoft forums s9ilent thought it was a very cool idea and he made his own program! This is the topic he started:

http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=227661

The only difference between e-speaking and his program is that his program can only work with scripts and not the keyboard. E-speaking simulates keys you can press on your keyboard, but SVC (s9ilent's vocal control) returns variables to TC so SVC needs a script to convert commands into actions.
Both have advantages and disadvantages, but the biggest problem is that you can't open menu's with SVC and e-speaking needs many hotkeys to activate commands.

There is also a free alternative to e-speaking, Shoot. It works very similar to e-speaking, but is designed to work with games instead of the entire OS. This is the website:

http://clans.gameclubcentral.com/shoot/

About the scripts, s9ilent is also writing scripts for his program, including wing commands and the like. Atm I'm working on a jump script that should replace Shift+J, it's almost done, but I'm very busy with school and my exam project, so I can't say when I'll release it.

So how does it work? Do you have a button you push to activate the commands?

nope you first have to start the voice recognition program (d'oh) and then TC. After you loaded your save game you can just speak into your microphone and the computer does the rest.

For the video I did it so I press a button to have the computer 'listen' to what I say, but you can activate the listening in many other ways. I think a button is the simplest and most reliable way to do that, because the programs (all of them) can pick up background noises and think that you're saying commands. Other ways of making the computer listen include giving you computer a name and you have to say that first before you can say a command (betty, target that station) or no activation at all (so it's listening the whole time), but as I said the programs tend to pick up on background noises.

The real activation of commands is done by saying them. So when the computer is listening I can say 'target that station' (while pointing at it with my ship, as if I press t to activate targeting) at the computer presses t for me instead of having to do that my self. This is how e-speaking and shoot work, SVC only works with (custom) scripts. So you can make SVC do the same thing, but you'll have to write your own script to do that (or download a script that someone else made). As of now SVC has a few build in commands like wing commands and stuff, s9ilent is making more so I think we'll be able to do a lot more out of the box with SVC.
btw, the reason SVC can't simulate a keyboard is because it is really difficult do that.

Hope that clarifies things a bit, if you have more questions your welcome to ask

Thanks for working on this, I'll certainly be giving it a try. I'd love to see a fully fledged X3:TC devoted version soon

I want it to show up with wing commands so i can be flying my carrier, and order "launch blue wing" and then order wing commands verbally, that would be awesome
