      Default 2.0a

So, you've had a chance to play 2.0a and the Aldrin Missions...

What do you think of them, and what do you think of the rebalancing and other bits that have been changed?

      Please add your reasons below...

      About the Aldrin mission:

It's senseless. Sorry to say that, but as Galder mentioned in german forum before there is just NO sense in this quest! You got a Baldric miner (?) - WHY? You got a terran TL - again WHY? Where is the relation to the story? And WHERE is the story? It seems now that they put some quest-suggestions from different people together, mixed them and Voil - The Aldrin Expansion Quest was ready. Beside the fact that it took me a few hours to complete the whole quest row it was no match for my fleet containing one M2, one M7 and two M6. So please - after finishing all the other quests to get to the Aldrin missions there should be a harder challenge, not that 'grandma-style' swinging handbag brawl...

      About the balancing:

Did they re-balance anything? Oh wait - the Springblossom can't use the Aldrin special weapons any longer in it's back turret.

[sarcasm] Great! So useful and well thought! [/sarcasm]

Why does a Aldrin vessel use only terran weapons in its back turret? It didn't make any sens in their fighters and now the M6 (which is like a cheat) is crippled in that way too?! Funny.

The new terran stations work, but they work so bloody slow it seems they are driven by some arthritic sloths. Terran industry is virtually not existant.

The Enhanced Dolphin is no longer invincible. That is okay on the one hand and i'm a little bit sad about it on the other hand. It was a cool little gimmick.

The only useful thing i recognized yet is the new spoiler: Xenon sector east of the unknown terran sector 3. There is usualy more than one enemy capital ship to find so i've got my playground to test some new vessels, weapons or strategies.

I'm sorry if you find my post small-minded. This is my current impression on the 2.0a patch. I will add some more positive thing when i find them... promised!

I havent played the Aldrin-Missions before, cause I solved no plot which iI need for it. But in my opinion, the rebalancing was a big step to make the gameplay more liquid.

I agree with Badman but the Aldrin missions give me a reason to finish the Hub

That is a big positive fact...

There is a player made patch that fixes quite a lot of the remaining bugs.

As i promised i keep you posted if i find something useful and positiv from the 2.0 Patch.

The boarding of an enemy capital ship was a mess in 1.4. Now in 2.0 there is a bigger chance your boys won't just sit quiet in space while watching the enemy take off. Now they often (not always) move and head into the direction of the target. They have still just a small chance to get onboard the ship if the aquried target is moving. But if the target doesn't moe the marines do their job very well. But they still crash into the targets hull if the approaching from the wrong vector wheather the ship is moving or not...

btw - The speed of the space suits is still 28 m/s and to slow to hunt for caps. If todays special (underwater) commandos can use gliders or special vehicles to improve their speed why can't future commandos.... just my two cents.

      You're right.

But i don't like to use the M7M's. None of them is compatible to my way of fighting. If i use a M7M i always got the feeling i'm sitting in an expansive and less maneuverable rocket launcher. I feel vulnerable like a sitting duck if i fly one of those. This is why i don't use boarding pods and don't reffer to them. If other (smaller) ships could use those pods i would use them as well.

But i agree, before complaining i should have done some thinking... Thanks!
