      Default Is there a Guide to using the Tractorr Beam

      Hi,

      Is anyone aware of a guide to using the Tractor Beam?

      Am having great difficulty getting it to move anything, are there limitations on what you can move? Can you move Asteroids? Can you move complexes?

      You can move your own stations (even mines)... but you can't move a complex. Asteroids can't be moved as well unless you built a mine on it.
      Besides you can pull ships (your own and ownerless ships), even through gates (but not with the jumpdrive). Stations and mines can't be moved through gates.

      And be carefull pulling stations and mines. I don't exactly know if it's easier in 2.1.... but it's rather difficult to avoid a crash with a giant mine behind you

      Hi cellestial, welcome to TXU!

      I havent found a guide around so i wrote down all the things i remember from making the german weapons review about the tractor beam in XTM. Range and behavior are almost the same in TC. Have fun!

      1. Install the tractor beam in the slot of a turret or a main weapon array that is designed to bear one

      2. Fly close to your target (at least 2 km)

      3. Press the fire button ones when the target is locked in the center of your HUD

      4. If you are successful the purple ray will turn into a stabel green line locking you to your target

      5. You can fly now with max 80 m/s and your target will follow you - but beware of it's inertia!

      6. If you wanna get rid of the locked target fire your tractor beam again into empty space or uninstall the tb.


      Things you can lock on:

      * abandoned ships without shields

      * your own ships, stations, satellites and laser towers


      Things you can not get a lock on:

      * all the other objects (including asteroids, containers, enemy ships and so on...)
