I was surprised as well hehe(I just had to set the details to low, all of them, hmm resolution I paly at max cause it does not seem to have an effect, it crashed once even on 800 by 600)
Its more of a luck or no luck in my case.
For example: Lineage lags however Aion works great(more or less)
Skyrim works pretty well(everything including resolution on low)
Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 worked flawlessly however Assassins Creed even 1 lags like hell
I guess it has to do with the graphics engine the game is using...
For example Unreal Tournament 3 worked like a charm (unreal Engine) so Gears of War should ,at least in theory, work as well given the fact that they use the same engine hehe
With X3 it seems I was half lucky.
It does work fine, most of the times, but sometimes, it goes crashing down.
The only solutions I could come up with were to either do an alt+tab which buys me some time until I can save, or save and then reload when it shows the simptoms of a potential freeze or crash
And yes, I have tried to update the driver and send a message for a fix, no response yet

The Paladin Order(still working on it,....got the ``writers block again``)

@Solitas sorry for splitting the thread but we were going off-topic fast, and this time i was mostly the one to blame for that ^^
I think Intel graphic cards are not so bad after all, if they can suck enough 'dedicated ram' from the available memory banks; but they sure lack the tech specs that high end cards have, like supported shaders versions, compatibility with the infamous directx10 (a mysterious set that could better be seen as directx9c plus something) or directx11.

But as far as they cope with Dx9 and the RAM is abundant and fast enough in your machine, then things should work.

When i changed my machine and passed from an ATI 9600 pro to an AMD HD4870 i was astonished by how faster everything had become (and better looking, of course). I'm still on the same machine, and even if the 4870 is now old (not Dx11 compatible, just to say one thing) and probably you can get one as scrap or second hand for 40$ or less, i can play crysis 2 at full (very high) in 1920x1080 resolution with only some moment of going below 20FPS in particularly huge and crowded scenes...

So if you can find one of those and have a free PCI 2 slot, it'd be worth a try
