Argon are the descendants of the crews of Nathan R. Gunne's Earth Fleet that lead the Terraformer fleet away from Earth and into the Unknown. With no hope of returning to Earth nor any information to suggest that Earth survived the onslaught, the survivors chose to remove Earth and all information regarding it from society, for good of their civilization as a whole, choosing to honour their greatest of leaders and becoming the R. Gunne (Argon). Over the centuries their culture would slowly mutate into the Argon we know today.

When Nathan R. Gunne first set eyes on the twin suns of Sonra, an isolated, barely habitable rock seemingly far enough away from the Terraformers for them to be safe for the time being, he did not know how significant it would become in the future.

The Argon are a tough and hardy race, as befits a race that has colonized so many different planets. Settlers and colonists tend to be a bit unfriendly and wary of strangers, and are very tough and independent. However the Argons who live on the home planet of Argon Prime like to think that they are more refined, and act in a more civilized and polite manner.

The Argon are not an aggressive race. Despite happening almost eight hundred years in the past, the memory of their disastrous civil war is still strong in their memories. However their involvement in both the Xenon Conflict and the Boron Campaign taught them how to fight, and fight hard.

Argon involvement in the two great X Universe Wars pushed their weapons technology and development far ahead of other races. They have developed a wide range of defensive shields, weaponry and space ship technology so that their pilots and space fleet are the most developed and finest armed in the entire Community of Planets.

When the Earth fleet set off on its fateful journey, it was not expected that anyone would survive, so when the fleet first set eyes on the temperate open grasslands of Sonra-4 a large habitable planet orbiting a bright welcoming sun, non would expect the society that would spring forth. At first the planet was simply to be a place to set down and prepare for the final last stand but as months carried on scans did not pick up a single Terraformer ship entering the sector nor any Earth Fleet ships come to relieve them nor any word of the condition of Earth. With no confirmation many feared that their plan had failed and Earth was lost, but Nathan R. Gunne refused to allow the rumours to take hold, with ruthless pirate efficiency he set about creating a rough and ready society from the survivors.

Early society was based simply around survival, a number of armed science ships had survived the encounter including the infamous Herron a corporate science vessel known for its exploitation of space based prison regulations to perform genetic experiments on inmates which in orbit, despite being scheduled for destruction it was one of the few ships armed and equipped for a prolonged engagement, albeit against pirates or would be prison breakers. Food was first on the agenda, luckily a consignment of wheat and rice had be scheduled for Charleston colony in the Ruth nebula, but just as the colonists were finally beginning to get back on their feet winter was upon them, the bitter cold ravaged the crops leaving the survivors with but the few rations they had collected, it was then that Gunne turned to the scientists aboard the Herron, "Make me an animal that can survive this blizzard" And so it was done, the animal wasnt pretty, a hybrid bovine-elephant cross, with long matted hair covering its body, that could be weaved into winter clothing, strong hooves that could trek miles if need be and most of all succulent meat and dairy produce capable of sustaining a population over the harshest of winters, specimen 582 would eventually become known as the Argnu . With a stable supply of food the foundations for civilization were laid within a few year the first child born under the light of Sonra was born, in many ways this marked the birth of the first Argon.

Upon his death Nathan R Gunne took two things with him, the first was his strong leadership a vacuum that would eventually be filled by an elected council, the second was hope of Earth, with his death Earth would lose its voice. With the Death of the last survivor from Earth all records of Earth were stricken from the history books although the memory would last a few years more, with no records available outside of the deep government intelligence vaults opened by only to a select few. The survivors finally gave themselves a name in honour of their greatest leader becoming the Argon.

Around the year 160, reports began to emerge of unidentified spaceships appearing on the outer edges of the Argon Federation. These reports increased until the year 210 when these unidentified ships began attacking and destroying Argon ships.

In 214 an Argon ship survived an attack and the survivors reported the first positive sightings of their attackers, a race who became known as the Xenon.

Between 214 and 225 these skirmishes escalated, cumulating in the Xenon attacking and destroying "The Antigone", a major Argon space station killing thousands. In retaliation for this attack the Argon had no choice but to declare war on the Xenon. This war became known as the Xenon Conflict.

The Argon Federation looked to their allies the Paranid for help but, after much debate and discussion, in 230 the Emperor of the Paranid finally refused to join the war, and relationships between the two races deteriorated.

Between the years 230 and 255 the Xenon increased their attacks and the Argon Federation lost battle after battle. Many space stations and colonies were lost and the Xenon took over more and more Argon territory. However the tide turned around the year 255 when the Argon space fleet enjoyed a number of spectacular and daring victories. Slowly, sector-by-sector, they forced the Xenon back to their own frontiers, and regained lost Argon territories.

By 290 the Argon had succeeded in forcing the Xenon Fleet from all Argon Federation Territories and the attackers finally retreated back into deep space, wherever they had come from.

1n 300 an Argon Deep Space Fleet was dispatched in an attempt to discover the Xenon home territories. In the year 323 whilst searching unknown deep space sectors their exploration fleet came across a race called the Boron.

Once contact was established the Kingdom of Boron made a desperate plea to the Argon for help in assisting them in their on-going war with a race called the Split.

Whilst awaiting a decision from the home planet, a smaller fleet of Split warships attacked the Argon fleet; among them were some space ships of the Paranid race. The decision was made immediately, and once again the Argon were involved in a major war, one that came to be known as the Boron Campaign.

This alliance with the Argon came just in time for the Borons as, by 324, the attacking Split had forced them back almost to their home planet.

The Argon dispatched a powerful fleet to the Borons aid and in 336, together they managed to defeat a huge attacking fleet of Paranid and Split in a battle fought in the skies over the Borons home planet.

The Boron Campaign continued until for another twenty-five years in which theArgon and the Borons slowly forced the Split and the Paranid further back and the Kingdom of Boron slowly regained its lost territories.

Eventually Split and their allies the Paranid were forced to concede and the war formally ended in 350. As a result of this peace treaty theArgon and the Boron formed a permanent alliance called the Foundation Guild. This guild is not only establishes permanent trading links, but controlled and policed them. TheArgon Mark was chosen as its currency.

The Split and the Paranid then fell out among themselves and continued to battle each other until they too reached an agreement. Both races could see the advantages of alliance and, to counter the growing power of the Foundation Guild, they formed themselves into a similar agreement which they called The Profit Guild.

An uneasy peace reigned for the next hundred years during which all races worked hard at regaining their lost economies and re-building and re establishing their territories and space stations

In 550 a new race, the Teladi, entered the space lanes and, despite deputations being made from the Foundation Guild, began trading with the Profit Guild, Great suspicion was put on this action by both theArgon and the Boron, but the main reason why the Teladi refused to join the Foundation Guild was that it refused to enter into theArgon Mark currency, instead insisting on using its own native Teladi Buckzoid currency. However despite this deep suspicion, to date no conflict has ever occurred between the Teladi and the members of the Foundation Guild.

In 589 a great step forward is made when members of both the Foundation Guild and the Profit Guild agree upon using a common currency called Credits. From this date onwards the X Universe operated on the Credit system of currency.

This event, known as The Great Currency Reform, to date has been the only occasion where five races of the X Universe have ever come to a joint agreement over anything.

The Argon Federation, along with the Boron Kingdom, is a member of the Foundation Guild, despite their earlier war with each other, both races are allied to each other.

In 230 the Emperor of the Paranid refused to join the war against the Xenon when the Argon asked the Paranid Empire for help. The result was that The Argon and Paranid alliance broke down and relationships between the two races deteriorated.

The Split and the Argon have never seen eye to eye and this has resulted in a war between both races.

The Argon and the Xenon have been at War once and all diplomatic efforts to contact them have failed.

The Argon consider the Kha'ak to be very dangerous, and so all Kha'ak ships are to be deemed hostile. After the Presidents End Massacre, the Kha'ak and the Argon have been at war, with one major battle; that took place in Omicron Lyrae.

Today the Argon Federation is wealthy and encompasses a large number of very different types of planets. Some are hot deserts, some are ice wastes. The planet Argon Prime is heart of the Federation and is the residence of the government and all administration. It is also one of the most exciting planets in the X Universe. As well as being the home of culture, science and learning, it is also home to the finest entertainments. As well as housing the finest geodesic holiday homes it also has thousands of bars, restaurants, theaters, casinos, hologramic cinemas, holiday villas, everything in fact that makes it the finest rest and recreation center in any known universe.

The Argon Federation is governed by an elected parliament, with each city colony and space station represented by senators elected by their own people. The leader of the Argon Parliament is called President. Currently this position is held by a male Argon called Frann Herron.
